Yes I know that, but still its wrong isn't it? I mean I have a condition that I was born with, but never knew about and I'm being prejudiced for that, so surely that is something to complain about. I don't mind paying the PPI back for the sake of writing the loan off though.....
Hi Ring the Financial Ombudsman Service and explain your case to them they will give you good advice I am sure.

    • What were you reclaiming:I was reclaiming PPI from three loans...two old and one current.
    • Who was the provider: Halifax (RBS)
    • How much did you get back: about £2500
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: I got a successful response after sending my first letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
I didn't think I'd be eligible for any kind of refund but thought i may as well give it a go.
I had three loan agreements to argue in all.
Two were old loans already paid off and one was a current loan i was in the process of paying.
I took one of Martin's letters and picked a few of the reasons but added all three loan agreement references at the top of the letter.

Soon after sending the letter i got a response stating they had a set period of time to respond.

A little while later i had another letter assuring me they were dealing with my complaint.

Then i received a letter stating that they would refund my two old loans to "leave me in a position as if i had never taken out the Insurance" and that they would also refund the premium and the interest on my current loan.

All in all with the Premiums, the interest and the 8% as well, Halifax have provided me with over £2500 and my monthly repayments on my current loan are £50 less each month.

I may not have insurance but the money will certainly come in useful.

    You have nothing to lose!!!

    Thanks Martin!

    Hi There

Have you thought about still taking this to the Ombudsman. They have acted unfairly. They cannot just wriggle out at the last moment. This is causing you debt. May I suggest you give FOS a ring and ask their opinion on this. Good luck and let us kow how you get on.
hi max, yes i totally agree with you, if she had claimed mis sell previous she would have had the loan redone with 8% plus all the payments back she had made on ppi to date.

What were you reclaiming: loan ppi
Who was the provider: alliance & leicester
How much did you get back: £1717
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: ombudsman. A&L basically said no, sent it to the ombudsman in august 2008. Had letter back from the ombudsman last week with the breakdown. Havent had the cheque yet but i hope to god they dont try and take it off the loan amount, i am not in arrears and pay every month so hopefully they will give me a nice cheque. Anyone know anymore about this? Matt

    Hi Matty

    Well done.:T:beer:

They all differ from one to another, but here is the link that our Maxdp posted on here in how the FOS work out the refunds, hope you find this useful, all the best.;)

I am new to posting here but not new to Martin's site. Just wanted to let you all know that my husband received a letter yesterday from Barclaycard offering him £2957.72 refund of PPI. He has also had a refund of nearly £2000 from EGG for PPI. EGG paid after the first letter and Barclaycard paid out after the 2nd letter. He is still trying to claim PPI from Lloyds who seem to be digging their heels in but we are still trying hard. For us this is great news as the money has paid off the credit cards and there has been some money left for us.

I am now doing the same with my Credit cards and I have had a loans with Barclays on and off since 1995 and my loan is just about to finish. I am hoping that I have the same success as hubby.

Fab site Martin and for all those who are still waiting for responses, please do not give up.
