Having now sat down and worked out what it means to me, they are simply cancelling the ppi policy and not refunding any of the ppi paid so far!! that £5197.23 is what is left of the ppi policy to pay, not including the interest as well!
its a con as far as i can see, with a fancy worded reply, where we think we are getting a good deal, but we are not.

any ideas on what to do now?
if you have a case for mis sell, then i would take this to fos, you can put in a letter as to why you think you were mis sold , there is a template letter on this site if you want to use that, or just do as i did and write your own letter, if you can go for mis sell please do this, it may take some time but the end result will be worth it, as i said earlier you will be pounds better off

thanks, filled in the fos forms already, photocopied everything that was needed, just sent recorded delivery.

all I can say is bring it on!! to the banks, we will no longer bow down to them, after all, all we are asking for is our money back!!

Fallenstar, do you think MBNA will close your cc account/call in o/s balance? Is your cc account, still active?
My CC is still active, and I make regular payments. I only went ahead with reclaiming from Egg because they had been fined by the FSA. I took out PPI when I first took my Virgin(MBNA) card out. I applied online so I suspect I might not be able to claim back.

BTW, Egg reclaim process took all in all 2 weeks.:D

have a go for your virgin card, it doesnt matter that you did it on line, the same rules apply, you might as well go for it, you have nothing to lose

We have today received a letter from Loans.co.uk regarding a PPI mis-selling claim on a First Plus loan they arranged for us in 2004. Just 8 weeks after our one and only letter to them (based on a template from this wonderful forum) they have reviewed our file and have

"come to the conclusion that you were not sufficiently aware of details regarding the Payment Protection Insurance policy and as a result we will be upholding this complaint.

To ensure that we make the correct level of payment to settle this complaint, we require additional time to contact the lender and validate the amounts payable to you and/or your account. Please allow us time to do this and be assured that the refund will be made as soon as we are in receipt of the information from the lender. I will contact you again in due course to confirm the amount to be refunded. I confirm that this is our final response on the matter. If you are dissatisfied with this final response, you may refer your complaint to the FOS within six months of the date of this final response letter."

We are elated and gobsmacked but also dubious as to whether this may be a delaying tactic. Would also like to ask if anyone else has received a response like this and what the final outcome was?

For information purposes for anyone else wanting to pursue this company they are at:

    Loans.co.uk
    Chester Business Park
    Wrexham Road

(they come under the MBNA banner these days by the looks of things)

Wow, well done to you :T:T:j:j
    I'm so excited for you.

It may just be due to the number of complaints they are currently dealing with, but if you hear nothing by 14 days of this latest letter, give them a call or email just to ask on an update.;)

    Congratulations.
