It would be good if everybody said, how long the entire process took.

    • What were you reclaiming: PPI from a loan due to pre-exiting medical condition
    • Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
    • How much did you get back: All payments made relating to the PPI plus 8% equaling £2698 in total :j
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Just one lette. Got a standard "we're still looking into it" letter at the 4 week mark and then a settlement agreement 4 weeks after that.
Am totally thrilled as I know Lloyds can be total ****'s about repaying PPI. Since found out that a condition I have had since early adulthood completely invalidates all PPI insurance I have ever had so am now on the mamoth task of finding all the info I need to claim that back too.

  • Hi, First post, but a big thanks to everyone who gave me the confidence to claim for mis-sold PPI. Received a letter in the post this morning from A&L confirming that they will be paying me £1,655.97 (including interest).

Have to be honest in saying that I was unsure whether I would be succesful. The loan (which has since been paid off) was for a car I bought in 2004. I distinctly remember a conversation with A&L about taking GAP insurance, but didn't remember anything about PPI - took me a while to realise that the two were different.

A&L wrote to me in February (standard letter) stating that I might have a claim and to send them a letter if I believed that was the case. Used the MSE template as a basis, stating that I didn't remember the conversation about PPI and also claiming that the member of staff I spoke to wasn't properly trained / accredited by the FSA.

Although it took a few months to get the offer letter from A&L, to their credit, they did keep me informed of progress which I thought was very positive seeing as they could have been particulary abrubt and ignorant if they wished.

Anyway, delighted with the settlement - much more than I was anticipating.

Important lesson learned though - never disclose the amount when the wife is around. What I thought would be a good gadget fund is now a bathroom....

Lloyds TSB - as natweststaffmember suggested, I've started a different argument. In /february this year my old car packed in - had to save towards a second hand replacement T reg. Affected ability to pay rent. Also on a dmp. Sent copy of letter sent to DVLA informing them I am no longer owner of car. Also sent copy of new reg. doc. DMP and DCA docs. sent. Copy of rent arrears. Took quite a considerable hit on salary, after taking up permanent work in Feb. '09 - was contracting prior to this: sent P45 rec'vd from company I had been contracting for.

Abbey - Sent SAR request last Friday

HSBC - stayed at local county court since July '07. If I win my Lloyds case - I'll pursue HSBC under hardship.

Cap One: got refunded credit card charges: 6th June. They will pay the dca - I don't mind.

Applied for PPI charges from Cap One on Monday: heavy amount.

    Thanks for your interest.

    With pleasure.;)

So you have everything under control then?

Natweststaffmember is cool when it comes to these matters and if you keep him posted as well, he will help step by step in regards of the charges.

Good luck with all this and please do ask if you require help in regards of the PPI reclaiming.;)

  • Finally some success!
Reclaiming PPI on two loans on behalf of my boyfriend.
What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
    Who was the provider: HFC
How much did you get back: £589
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One letter!

Sent first letter 24th March 2009 stating general misselling. Had reply stating receipt of the letter about two weeks later, then had reply on the 16th June saying they are unable to ascertain whether the policy was appropriate for his insurance needs at the time so, without liability, they will refund £589 to the loan which halves the amount left to pay on it so I think he's pleased with that!

If someone could help me out though, I'm not sure whether the amount is right, I think it is, but just wanted to check. The breakdown is
Total cash price of life - £107.27
Total cash price of ASU - £305.70
Total interest paid for Life - £34.13
Total interest paid for ASU - £97.25
Cash rebate for life - £5.36
Cash rebate for ASU - £15.29
    8% credit interest - £24.39

He took the loan out in Nov 07, the PPI amount was £399.59. Monthly premiums of £22.45 for the PPI, first payment on the 1st Jan 08.
Let me know if you need more information than that, thanks!
Reclaiming for family and friends. Won 4/13 so far
    HSBC CC - £263.25, Halifax CC - £179.45, HFC PPI - £589.00, HSBC PPI - £498.86, Lloyds PPI 1 - £400
