Hi all, I have just received confirmation that Egg are refunding the PPI and the interest charged on it. I sent the initial letter 10 days ago, received the standard response that they had received my complaint and aim to reply within 6 weeks. I have today been told they have refunded the money off my loan.

My reasons were that the person was not financially trained, my job is secure and therefore the PPI was highly unecessary and that I wasnt explained at the outset that the payment, and thus interest, were added immediately.

Only thing I was wondering is if anyone knows whether you are entitled to receive the money by cheque rather than paid towards your outstanding loan? Has anyone recieved cheque payment from Egg?

    Lisa

    Hi Lisa

    Well done on your success.

This seems to be the way that some deal with these refunds lately, but if you had no arrears - missed payments, I do think you have the right to have this paid directly to you and not to your account, especially if they admit to mis selling and not an offer.
You have been out of pocket because of this, tell them that and its not your fault you were mis sold this product.

Give it a go hun, good luck.;)

  • Hi guys
I have just had a cheque arrive from EGG for £5900 less loan amount (£1000)
I had a PPI that I was told to take out 5 years ago when I topped up a current loan with EGG
I have challenged the PPI with egg using the templates on this site, i wrote a letter in Jan 09 received a letter saying investigation had began. 8 weeks later a letter arrived saying the investigation was inconclusive and i could write to the Ombudsman, I called EGG and said I would give them time to sort the problem before reporting them, my loan finishes in sept after 5 years so felt nothing to lose.
1 more phone call for an update still inconclusive.
Yesterday I received a letter and cheque for the full amount paid in PPI and nearly £2000 in interest.
SUCCESS and as my husband was recently made redundant a nest EGG while he gets sorted :T

I have seen lots of egg redresses this way and you can go to the FOS if you think its unfair. I must say though that there is a long waiting list for FOS of about 12/18 months at the moment so maybe just asking politely by letter would be a better bet. Have they actually already paid this back to the loan then? If they have may be best to accept it (or try first by letter) and then accept you have won and your debts are reducing. Well done for the win.

Well done to you also. I see that you say that egg have used a £1000 to pay towards your loan also. Seems the norm for them to do from what people keep posting but I would look at it that i no longer have a loan to repay.
  • Hi Guys

Having only been a casual visitor to your site for advice / templates, I thought it about time to register. Only really to let you know that i have today recieved a letter of "A Goodwill Gesture" to the tune of £319.05, for a refund of my Mortgage PPI. That took only one letter and was dealt with in 9 weeks.

Only one more claim on a PPI for loan protection. That was a single premium and should be an "Award" of around £7500. Fingers Crossed, I shall keep you posted.

    Keep fighting the fight.
