    • What were you reclaiming: Loan
    • Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
    • How much did you get back: Over £6,200
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Both, but didnt need the Ombudsman
My boyfriend took out a £21,000 loan with Lloyds TSB before we got together. I looked at it and saw he was paying just over £5000 of PPI. I used the templates on this website to request the terms and conditions and found that he didnt actually tick the box stating that he wanted to buy the insurance. Using the other templates, we complained to the bank. They delayed so after the 8 weeks we complained to the financial ombudsman. However, we never even returned the forms that the ombudman sent out... because a week later we received a letter from Lloyds TSB and he has got back over £6,200!

    Hi Trish

For England and Wales its 6 years, Scotland 5 years, not too sure on anywhere else.

    SAR template here with details:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1475553

And in regards of reclaiming, there is a useful link here with guidelines of reclaiming, and templates, but write your own reasons, they have 8 weeks to respond in full.

Post all letters by recorded delivery.

Post up for further help when required, good luck.;)

    Hi
Took out a £25000 secured barclayloan with single premium PPI of around £6500 in 2006 and after 10 months settled the loan and PPI in full of which i recieved a refund of around £1600 for the PPI.

Last year i sent a letter to Barclayloan requesting a refund and used the template letter from this site. I recieved the standard response and became disheartened so decided not to pursue it.

Several months ago after reading the increasing successes of reclaiming and after the banning of single premium policies i decided to have another go and sent off a template letter. I recieved the usual response but this time i sent of a 2nd template letter from this site.

I have just recieved a without predjudice settlement offer of £4000.00 which i have accepted and am now just waiting for the cheque.
Without this site i wouldnt of had a clue what to do and would like to say a massive thanks to martin and the team.

    keep up the great work:T

    • What were you reclaiming: Loan
    • Who was the provider: Alliance & Leicester
    • How much did you get back: £985.74
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Took a few chasing letters, due to no communication from them, but other than letters saying 'we're looking into it', the offer was made without argument.
I claimed this back for my mother-in-law. She didn't expect a penny back, as it was an old loan (2002) and she didn't have much of the paperwork.

She was overjoyed to receive a letter yesterday offering her £985.74, which includes interest at 8% per annum until 31 May this year.

Due to lack of paperwork, we have no idea if this amount is near to what she should be getting (not sure how much she was paying for PPI), but she's overjoyed and will be accepting this offer today.

I just wish my husband and I had had similar luck before we had to lodge our complaints with the Ombudsman (mine with A&L and OH with Nationwide), but we're still keeping our finger crossed anyway and the claims have been in 6 months already, so hopefully we'll hear by the end of the year or perhaps early next.

A happy MIL who says she feels as though she 'has won the lottery!' Bless her!

If you haven't already, give it a try! It just takes a few letters and is certainly worth the effort and few pence required to do that. You don't know until you try and my MIL wouldn't have this money today if I hadn't tried for her.

    Thanks Martin - you're a star!
