:j:j:j So I have just opened the post and Yippeeeee there is a cheque from Welcome Finance for £1418 :rotfl:

I can hardly contain my happiness :D

I only had the car loan for 12 months as I then handed the car back, so to get £1418 refunded I am over the moon. Just goes to show their daylight robbery tactics, appalling amount to have paid in 1 year, imagine if I had had it for 5 years?

I have requested a statement outlining the payments I made v the amount they have settled with, as I am not sure what the £1418 is made up from, might be a total refund but not sure if it is a partial goodwill gesture, it isnt clear.
Once I have that info I will post again :T

Thank you everyone on this forum and of course Martin xx

Sorry haven't a copy but just wrote along the lines of "wondering if you could help, been waiting for months for Picture to be declared in default, getting no information or timescale from FSCS, there are 600 complaints, people are close to being reposessed, just would like to be kept informed not fobbed off with standard email" Got a reply saying he didnt think it was satisfactory and then forwarded my letter to the FSCS with a cover letter asking for them to reply to him and explain what was happening. They have probably now put my claim to the back of the queue!
Letter written and email sent, thanks for the link- my MP was who i thought it was, make him do some work for me for a change!!:rotfl:

Hi, Yes it did get as far as an adjudicator. Although this was all going on without my knowledge, the first knew of it was when I recieved a letter from FOS on 5/5/9 which said

" I wrote to Welcome Finance recommending that your complaint be upheld. You will be very pleased to hear that following our intervention, Welcome Finance has told me it will agree to settle your complaint in line with my recommendations"

I had to then sign a letter and return that was enclosed, to say I accept the assessment and outcome of my complaint. The letter stated Welcome Finance had 4 weeks to contact me with the settlement. I recieved the cheque on Monday.

I hope ths helps and gives you hope? As my previous post said it wasnt a quick win, as I first complained April 08, however it hardly seemed like a fight as the FOS dealt with everything and I wasnt involved.

The delay is not to do with the facts of your complaint but the volume of complaints FOS are dealing with, thats what the man from FOS told me on the phone. For example I sent two complaints regarding Barclaycard PPI in April 08, one has concluded May 09 and they paid my PPI back, but when I called chasing the other one, FOS said due to backlog it hasn't been assigned to an adjudicator yet, although in the system.

Sounds like your complaint is about to be sorted though if they have said your on a spreadsheet? Good luck and let me know how you get on xx;)

I have just got back all my PPI with interest:j. Its taken 18months roughly, starting with the bank with no success and finally going to the FSA who were brilliant. I had £7275 left and now I have £2500 and money went into my account as well. Pleased as punch. Thank you Martin for your guidance you are a star. I'm looking at reclaiming my PPI for the last few years and it will potentially be on two loans, 1 car finance deal, a mortgage and a couple of credit cards, at least to see if I have cases for the above. Bearing that in mind I am tempted to use a claim handler to get around the hassle it would be for me to pursue all of the threads necessary. I know I would be looking at a 25% fee and that the majority of people on here are going to recommend not using them, but for the time and effort it would save me I would be more than willing to pay a reputable company. So could anyone actually recommend one please?

    Hi there

First of all, you can have help from this site free with templates etc, and if you wanted to do this through someone dealing with this, I would contact your local CAB first, as they will make or should make some recommendations if necessary.

For more information, check this link out here:

You will find templates and useful information.

Please feel free to ask for help from us, we will do all we can, good luck.;)

Is anyone aware of why banks delay in paying out refund/redress?
  • I took an unsecured loan with A&L, I was advised I would get a preferential rate on my loan application and it would take less time to get approved if I took out the PPI. I do not normally take such policies as my repayments are usually so low, however the rate was great and wanted to take advantage of it. The T&C'c showed that Ii would have to pay interest on the Insurance which narked me, but again, the rate was great so I accepted this. Anyway, I have paid off my loan early and subsequently received a letter about PPI investiagations. I called A&L told them about my experience. Since then I have received a letter advising me I will get full refund for the PPI policy, plus an adjustment as I had not been given the correct settlement figure and had therfore paid off too much, plus interest. I am awaiting the receipt of this cheque, but so far I am very pleased with the way A&L have handled this. I bank with A&L and must say they have provided me excellent service across the board. Good luck everyone else, fingers crossed for you!! xx

Just wanted to post our success with reclaiming our PPI back from HSBC. Wrote letter of complaint using Martins template about eight weeks ago. We got confirmation and a couple of other letters saying they were still looking into the complaint.

Last weekend got a letter from the bank offering us £4100. Needless to say we snatched their arm off!

    :rotfl:

    Thanks Martin et al!
