    Congratulations :-)

Do you mind me asking how much your PPI actually was? I've recently won against Barclays but have absolutely no idea what amount i should be expecting just yet. The cost for PPI was £2322 (including interest)

    Congrats again :j

I sent a letter by fax to Hallifax 3 weeks ago to let them know I was unhappy with they way I was sold my credit card PPI. I cited that the person selling to me was not of a suitable financial backround and therefore should not be selling financial products.

They have upheld my complaint and I will be refunded every payment + 8% interest for every payment I have made, going back as long as the card has been taken out which was in 1999.

    Happy days!!!

Is anyone aware of why banks delay in paying out refund/redress?

    Hi Wodz

Not sure on the real reason but do know they have that many to deal with both on complaints section and dealing with many refunds.

It just seems to be taking forever for many from reading on here recently.......
I was saying on another post, if they had to pay extra penalties for every week where peeps are waiting for their pay outs, they would be paying them all out far quicker lol.

I take it your still waiting for a payment then? Good luck X

I took an unsecured loan with A&L, I was advised I would get a preferential rate on my loan application and it would take less time to get approved if I took out the PPI. I do not normally take such policies as my repayments are usually so low, however the rate was great and wanted to take advantage of it. The T&C'c showed that Ii would have to pay interest on the Insurance which narked me, but again, the rate was great so I accepted this. Anyway, I have paid off my loan early and subsequently received a letter about PPI investiagations. I called A&L told them about my experience. Since then I have received a letter advising me I will get full refund for the PPI policy, plus an adjustment as I had not been given the correct settlement figure and had therfore paid off too much, plus interest. I am awaiting the receipt of this cheque, but so far I am very pleased with the way A&L have handled this. I bank with A&L and must say they have provided me excellent service across the board. Good luck everyone else, fingers crossed for you!! xx

Brilliant and make sure its not just a low goodwill offer as A&L seem to be paying these out, if your not happy and its a big difference to the amount of PPI you paid in plus interest etc.....tell them this, good luck and also make sure they send you a full written breakdown of calculations.;)

Just wanted to post our success with reclaiming our PPI back from HSBC. Wrote letter of complaint using Martins template about eight weeks ago. We got confirmation and a couple of other letters saying they were still looking into the complaint.

Last weekend got a letter from the bank offering us £4100. Needless to say we snatched their arm off!

    :rotfl:

    Thanks Martin et al!

    Wonderful, Congratulations.

  • Hi all,

My partner pointed me to Martins site this morning (what a marvelous thing!) after having seen a statement of mine for a loan I took out some years ago. Basically I was paying a wopping amount on PPI which I didn't realise was optional. I took the loan out in 04 and have put together my letter to send off today.

I'm hoping that I get somewhere as it's quite a large amount of money i've paid into this loan and having almost got myself debt free feel this might be a great claim having been missold PPI when I was in a real down time with poor credit.

    • What were you reclaiming: Loan
    • Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
    • How much did you get back: Over £6,200
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Both, but didnt need the Ombudsman
My boyfriend took out a £21,000 loan with Lloyds TSB before we got together. I looked at it and saw he was paying just over £5000 of PPI. I used the templates on this website to request the terms and conditions and found that he didnt actually tick the box stating that he wanted to buy the insurance. Using the other templates, we complained to the bank. They delayed so after the 8 weeks we complained to the financial ombudsman. However, we never even returned the forms that the ombudman sent out... because a week later we received a letter from Lloyds TSB and he has got back over £6,200!
