    • What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
    • Who was the provider: Alliance & Leicester
    • How much did you get back: £984
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: We wrote two letters in total and at four weekly intervals we received letters saying they were investigating it. The offer arrived within 12 weeks, with an offer to repay the PPI including the 8% interest. No need to go to the Ombudsman and we received an apology as a 'valued customer'.
Thanks for the templates and support - well worth the cost of two stamps!

    Congratulations, and well done !:j

    Definately worth it.:T:T

  • Hello,

I have just received a letter from HFC in response to my claim for refund of PPI.

After following the very straightforward advice on this website along with submitting the template letter relevant to my circumstances I have been offered a FULL refund of PPI along with 8% interest added.

My refund amounts to £4289 approx but as my loan is still active they have said it has to be used to clear my existing balance. I am happy for this to take place as it will reduce my monthly payments hugely and give me much needed disposable income. :j

My remaining balance can either be paid, or they will refinance it on the same APR that was on the original agreement.

Martin you are owed at the very least a pint !!!:money::beer:

Advice to everyone, time spent on this website is time well spent - so far ive recovered £4289 from one Finance house, and if the banks lose their case later this month on charges I will be due another £6350 !!!

After initially contacting Barclays in November 2008 about mis-sold PPI on a Barlclays loan (was told it was a condition of taking out the loan that you had to take their PPI) and getting the run around from Barclays for three months (culminating in a 'we are sorry but we are unable to respond at this time' letter) referred the matter to the Ombudsman.

On May 7 received a letter saying Ombudsman had judged in my favour and Barclays had agreed to pay nearly £2000 back (including interest).

So success - or so it seems..... Since then Barclays dragging their heals and 4 weeks on no sign of payment. Have spoken to Barclays Customer Relations and Head office but they are unable to speak to the team who handle the payments as they only have a voicemail. They have apparently emailed them asking them to call me but they dont know when that will be or if they even call customers.

    Back to the Ombudsman!

Glen how frustrating this is for you......, they are dragging this out ain't they ?

I was saying to someone the other day, they should pay extra on every week they don't pay out for late payments, then that would move them lol.

    Good luck anyway.;)

Hi Di thanx for your comment .I have actually asked for a sar but they still say they have no record of this credit card .I bet they would have if i ever missed a payment .The funny thing is I have two joint accounts with the Natwest so I am going to request statement going back four years as the payments that went out direct debit to pay the card must be on there somewhere .I must say though that the Halifax were great they responded very quickly every step of the way and sent a letter out say we were successful .They did delay in telling us the ammount by six weeks but we got the letter with how much we would get back and the cheqgue in the same day .

    Hiya Dawn

If this was taken out the last 6 years in England and Wales, Scotland is 5 years, they should still hold the details.
Is this still an active account?
If so they MUST have the details.

Another thing you can do as you have done your bit now is contact the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) ring them and explain what you have on here, ask if they can help, they may contact them on your behalf, you have a right to do this, good luck.
I would ring and not email though in case there is an email queue.;)
