when we bought a loan to buy my husbands car we were sold ppi. after reading how we may have been mis-sold it on this site we followed martins advise and used the template letters. on receipt of the first letter tesco said we had not been mis-sold. they ignored our next letter so we then contacted the ombudsman. they were very helpful and tesco then offered us a "good will gesture" which was a full refund with 8% interest. £2560, thanks martin!:j:j

 Thankyou for your advice I have just made successful complaint to First plus and recieved a full refund of £10500 .I was sold a policy but repaid my loan after 7 months only to get £1400 refund from a policy that cost £9500 they have just offered me a full refund with interest all for a first class stamp and some paper and ink whoooooo Picture loans next hahaaaa
Fantastic news, we are part way through process to get our PPI back off the first plus scum... on our second attempt - having to go through a third party now - but as it seems they are now paying out to people that could improve our chances. Great news!

Hi I am new to this. Just registered today but have been reading all the advice which gave me the courage to claim against Halifax for a loan I took out last October. I sent off the first template letter around 23 March. Received a reply on 8 April saying they had 8 weeks to respond. Got a letter today saying they had upheld my claim and will be contacting me shortly to tell me how much they will pay me. I can't believe it! I also have a letter off to First Plus on 19 March and had two replies, the last one stated they would respond by 19 May. So fingers crossed!

Thanks to Martin and everybody on this forum for giving me the courage to do this. xxx:T

My boyfriend has just had a refund from Halifax for nearly £2000 pounds for a loan he paid off over 4 years ago.

He was told at the time that as he was only 18 he had to take out the insurance otherwise he wouldnt be able to get the loan. So I adjusted the template letter on this site and made it appropriate to his situation and sent it, simple as that, I didnt even have to write any further letters, they wrote to me within 4 weeks to say that they would refund the money plus interest into our bank account.

    Well worth the 10mins!!!! :T

I got back £1400 (including interest) from a loan from Egg, taken out in 2003. I wrote 1 letter using Martin's template and expected to get nothing but got a cheque through the post instead! I was told my PPI was compulsory despite having an income protection plan with a different company. :j
