Barclays bank contacted me Jul 19 regarding a failed claim going back to 2017 and awarded me nearly £4500. Shocked to say the least, I can only think they were doing the right thing! Very glad they did. Well done Barclays:T:j0

I know the advice from MSE is to deal directly with the companies, but I am happy that I signed up with a PPI claims management company (CMC) to look into my PPI status back in September 2017.
I asked the CMC to look into over 20 companies (credit cards / bank accounts / loans) that I may have had dealings with over the last 25 years. All the necessary forms were posted to me and returned freepost.
All the companies initially rejected my claims, saying they had no records of any PPI payments. I found some old statements from three credit cards (MBNA / HBOS / RBS) showing PPI payments and sent them to the CMC. The credit card companies repeatedly turned everything down for a number of reasons.
Normally at this point I would have given up, but the CMC insisted on taking the cases to the FCO for me. First was rejected by the adjudicator, but upheld by the ombudsman, second was rejected by both, third was accepted by the adjudicator. There were a lot of emails / forms etc that the PPI company dealt with for me.
If it wasn't for the CMC, I would have give up long ago on these claims after the initial refusals and adjudicator rejection; for the amount of work the CMC have done on all 20+ cases on my behalf, their fee of 12% = £500 seems fair.
My final redress cheque arrived this week, so I'm now have an extra £3k in my bank account. The whole process took almost 2 years - it's not always quick and the CMC helped me get the result.0 -

No I do not work for the CMC - my review is unbiased and factual. If I had tried the PPI complaint procedure directly, I would have accepted some of the responses from the lenders / FCO adjudicator (If I had taken it that far) and not have got a result. I didn't even name the CMC that I used, so I am not plying for business or comission.0

12% not 25% - if it was 25% I would be less inclined to say it was a fair amount.0

As I stated clearly, I would not have prgressed this to payout given the negative responses I received from the CC companies and the FCO adjudicator - the CMC helped get this through and the £500 I paid them is better than paying nothing to get nothing.0
