I started a PPI claim on my partners capital one card in March 09. They sent the standard letter in April 09 stating he had not been mis-sold. I responded stating that he felt he had and if they failed to refund would contact the FOS.

They have responded today stating they will return the full £175.79 plus interest bringing the total to £189.85. Not a massive payout but all helps.

All for the cost of 2 letters send recorded delivery 2nd class.

    How wonderful !:j

  • I think MBNA are probably quite glad to see the back of me by now.

First of all both the mrs and I reclaimed a fair lump of credit card charges off them, then round 2 was me looking for mis-sold PPI premiums back (I was (and still am) self employed when the card was taken out, however its now paid off and cancelled). The postman brought me a cheque for £1399 last week, so I'm happy!

    Many thanks once again Martin.

:j:j:j well done to you, thats fantastic:beer::money:
    • What were you reclaiming: Personal loan (graduate)
    • Who was the provider: HSBC
    • How much did you get back: £1081
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After a letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale:
I wrote to HSBC to cancel the PPI on my personal loan and also lodged a complaint using the template form on MSE (thanx!) citing mis-selling due to pressure and inappropriateness of loan PPI (due to being on fixed contract at the time).
HSBC wrote back a few weeks later to say they were processing my complaint. This was followed by another "please wait" letter about 4 weeks later.
Then.....HSBC wrote to me upholding my complaint and offering to settle! :T
They also said they are not selling PPI anymore....what a coincidence with the new regulations....
The amount included interest-earned and reflected what I had paid over the last 5 years of the loan (2 to go), so I accepted.
I had to go into a branch to sign papers restructuring my loan (as they couldn't just cancel the PPI apparently) and then....
I GOT MY MONEY!!! :j (about a week ago).

    So....it's definitely worth doing.

I guess I'll be using the money to pay off some debts....how good am I?! :rotfl:

    Good luck everyone!

result, after nearly 2 years i finally recived a letter from HFC making an offer of over £7.000 pounds (which includes 8% interest) to refund ppi insurance misol
    d on my loan account.

I had to take to ombudsman as my first request to HFC was refused, and while it was with the ombudsman they got fined so didnt have a leg to stand on, they call it a gesture of good will rather than admit they where at fault but it was worth the wait. Next stop capital one.
