I helped to write a letter to the bank by using the wonderful template / tool on the moneysavingexpert.com . Within 2 days Lloyds bank returned 1000 to my friend's bank account. No questions asked. I couldn't believe how easy and fast that was.
My friend was worried to ruin relationship with the bank and wasn't sure if it's a good idea to contact the bank regarding charges. Now he is very happy. He will be able to use that money to cover his medical bills and improve his health..
BIG THANK YOU TO MARTIN and moneysavingexpert.com TEAM for providing the free online tool for reclaiming bank charges and sharing other encouraging success stories!:)0 -
I reclaimed a student loan which I used to pay off my student overdraft. The provider was Lloyds Bank. I received £1615 payment. I made an initial claim in 2012 which was refused by Lloyds. I then made a further claim in 2015 stating that my original claim was unfairly rejected and I wanted the claim reviewed as the FCA had asked all previously rejected claims to be reassessed.
I received written confirmation from Lloyds stating my complaint had been reassessed and they were changing their initial decision.
Do not hesitate to ask for your claim to be reassessed even if you have been initially refused.
I received my payment in 2015 for a loan provided in 1994
Thank you MSE 😊

Any advice on Solicitors to take on our claim . It is the only route left as we were rejected by the FOS after 5 years. We were told by First Plus at the time that PPI was compulsory even though I work for NHS and husband self employed in family business0

It is very very unlikely that any court will overturn an Ombudsman's decision. You would need a very compelling case and the burden of proof would be solely upon you.
PPI court cases have only very rarely been successful.
This forum is not a referral service for solicitors, I'm afraid, it would be regarded as advertising and is against forum rules..0 -

It is unlikely FP told you when you say that it was a broker that was used as it would have been the broker that sold it. So, its more likely the broker told you.
When you complained to the broker, what did they say? (although the fact it was pre-regulation probably means the broker doesnt have to consider it)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Sorry I didn't realise it could be seen as advertising .
FOS tried to link Soceity of Lloyds as underwriters but failed.
First plus stated there was no contact with them until after the agreement was signed .I distinctly remembered a phone call asking about my husbands employment as he was self employed. They had no records or copy of loan agreement but everything else to 1999.
Luckily I found the original agreement.
The only other link between Freedom Finance and First plus would be brokerage fees but at the moment they don't have to reveal these.
I think it's the end of the road now so I will pack my file away .
It's annoying to think the loan agreement with front loaded PPI is in First Plus name . We thought we were protected as they were Barclays First Plus . If the agreement had Wilmslow/Freedom Finance
at the top I don't think we would have gone ahead .0 -

The underwriter route only works in a very very tiny number of cases. It has to fall within a window and a certain commercial arrangement.First plus stated there was no contact with them until after the agreement was signed .I distinctly remembered a phone call asking about my husbands employment as he was self employed. They had no records or copy of loan agreement but everything else to 1999.It's annoying to think the loan agreement with front loaded PPI is in First Plus name . The original phone call was to Wilmslow Finance who then directed us to First Plus .0
