    Just ignore them
  • I am trying but it is very intimidating and quite stressful.
  • I am new to this so apologies to everyone.
I'm making people aware of my successes as I was one of those thinking, I'll never get anything so wants the point. Anyway after going through a divorce and wanting to get my finances back into shape (thank you to Martin on his many ideas), I decided to give it a go.
Used the form you can download from MSE site and sent it off to Capitol One March 2016. 4 weeks later a letter received from Capitol One upholding my complaint and a cheque to be sent for £30,000!!!!!
A week later the cheque arrived, happy days.
With this I decided to claim on another. An old HFC/Beneficial Finance card. This time I downloaded a form direct from HSBC who have now taken over Beneficail.
Have this week received a letter also upholding my complaint and they have agreed to pay another £5000!!!
I've had to go into an HSBC branch to prove my ID and apparently they will credit my nominated bank account in the next couple of weeks.
So, my advice to anyone is go ahead and make that claim and don't use a 3rd party claims company. The lenders have a due diligence to come back to you and why waste 30+% of YOUR money.

I have succesfully complained regarding PPI on a credit card account.
It was taken out online with HBOS, who then sold the account to MBNA.
HBOS upheld my complaint and compensated me £800, MBNA did not sell me the PPI however did charge me once the account was sold. As a gesture of goodwill they have paid me £800.
£1600 for filling out a form and a telephone call :)

Just to also say that although my card was taken out on the web, I did go into a branch for advice prior to going online, and could notremember seeing a tick box or pop up on the site . I'm not sure if that helped in my case or not as it seems that others who applied online have not had complaints upheld.

Santander have failed to uphold my PPI claim on an old Debenhams store card. The reason I felt I had been miss sold was because I had the PPi, but was not working.

I was actually a carer for my son.

Slight glimmer of hope is that they said they would look at it again if they had proof I was not working on the day it was take out - 20th October 1998.

I now have this in hand.

Found this after phoning HMRC, who then put me onto this office.

Good Luck. That's unusual as Santander (or Genworth) are currently paying out most store card PPI claims from the then Arcadia Group of stores.
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.
  • I reclaimed PPI on a credit card from Co-Op Bank for a period from 1988 to 2013. I received £2,337. The amount per month I paid was very small but after 25 years, it had built up. I phoned the credit card company, they sent a form and responded within one week of me returning the form. The form was the same as the one on this site from the finance ombudsman. Easy to do and no need to use a claims company - thanks for your helpful guidance. Made my month/year let alone day!
  • 20 days after sending in letter to first plus received cheque for £4050 for ppi taken out in 2007. If anyone is reading this and has ppi please complete the template on me and send it in.

Today I have received 4 offers from RBS Natwest for roughly £19000 in relation to 4 loans taken out since 2001. The whole process was very straightforward. I called the ppi dept at Natwest, they sent me a form which I filled out and they kept me updated via text. They took just short of the 8 week deadline to make their decision. Unfortunately I will never see any of this money as I have a dmp from defaulting on the most recent loan, but this will go a long way towards paying it off.

I've also received an offer for £111 from Halifax cc and had a payout of 230 for advantage gold packaged bank account charges.

Thanks for the useful information on this site and the massive warnings about not using claims management companies.
