  • Reclaim: Loan
    Bank: Northern Rock
    Amount paid: £1062

Very pleased to say my claim (using the advice and form on MSE) resulted in a payout by NRAM, who handle the affairs of the former Northern Rock bank. It was related to a loan taken out 15 years ago, so worth claiming even if your loan was an old one.

We were planning to put the money towards a holiday next year but had a major expense when the gearbox went on our car last month, so the money has saved us a major expense!

Many thanks to Martin, the MSE team and all the posters for their advice and help in reclaiming this missold PPI. :T
Big thanks to Martin Lewis for helping us start to sort out our finances!!!:A

And thank you to all posters! You're wonderful!
  • Thank so much for the reclaiming templates. I had a loan for £10K over 10 years ago and no policy number or paperwork. I called the Halifax and gave the address I was at when I took out the loan then filled in the claim form.
6 weeks later I am £3,220.00 better off!!
I never thought I would get anything as I had so little information.

Good luck if your going through the process.

  • Hi everyone. I had a successful claim against Black Horse in 2012.
Today I've received a letter saying during their review process they've changed their original decision and recalculated their offer.

It goes on to say, they've now reconsidered and re-reviewed my concerns and identified an error with the original decision and they will be sending payment by the end of November.

This is completely out of the blue and made my day.
I had a successful claim from them about the same time, but I haven't had one of those letters from them, sadly. :-(

Well done though and hopefully you'll have a nice cheque coming to you soon.
  • After years of procrastinating, I finally used the PPI claim template provided on here to claim back miss sold PPI on loans from Natwest bank from 20years ago.
My bank got in touch and told me to contact loans house (They provided the address) Loans house are supposed to reply within 40days, two letters later and after almost a year had past, I finally got the details, loan agreement numbers, account numbers ect. I then submitted the form provided.
I received a call from Natwest to confirm some of the details ie why I thought that it was miss sold ect...I my case at the age of 21 it was my first loan so I was told that as I had no credit history that I needed to take the PPI to be approved for the loan of £1000 a few months later I took out a loan for £5000 to purchase my 1st car. I was told that as the first loan had a few months still to go, that I'd need to take PPI again to be approved because until a loan was paid off in full, then I still had no credit history.
A few more details about my financial circumstances from the time in question were asked.
I received regular updates via text and calls on how my claim was progressing and finally received an offer letter which I signed and sent straight back. Two days later I received a call, letter and text advising that the £4000 would be credited to my account within the next 30 days... The money actually went in that day 😊 Thank you so much MSE x

  • Fantastic to read these success stories - and all without going through the reclaim companies too. Thanks to MSE for the template letters which means people can get the full money they're entitled to.

Update - in addition to the successful Northern Rock reclaim, I've just received £2,700 from NatWest for a loan more than 10 years ago + £50 from an Argos storecard I had around the same time. Great news. :)

  • Thought i'd chance the last boat to PPI claiming so printed off the form and applied directly through HSBC where I took a loan out for a car in 2007. Had a letter to say they'd received my claim, then a phone call with a very nice man just asking me a few questions to assist with the investigation... Got £920 back! :) and all thanks to the email newsletter giving me a panic nudge to do it! It never hurts to try apply for anything!
