I am now debt free, the reason I paid it all off more than 1 year early is due to Martin Lewis, this excellent forum and a successful PPI claim against Lloyds (then Lloyds TSB).

I was wrongfully coerced into taking out a PPI when I was 18 as they said it was the only way I would be approved since I was young and without a credit history.

I learnt on MSE how to start a claim on my own for free, the first one was rejected by the bank directly. I then took it to the FSA and they approved my claim. I was awarded a four figure sum back.

So thank you to all on MSE and everyone on the forum.

Yes! I endorse the thanks to the MSE site and forum.

From my four compliants, I have recieved in excess of £57,000 redress and I have kept it all and nor have I had a leech of a CMC take 30% of that total for the price of 4 62p stamps.

Even better news I persuaded a work colleague not to use a CMC today, happy days.

    Success story.

£5,000 Natwest loan, over 2 years, in 2005. No paperwork, no records, nothing. Phoned Natwest PPI line in Jan 2015, they traced the loan from my same current account and confirmed it had PPI on it.

    April 2015, £1043 awarded in mis-sold PPI. :)
    - on a mission to be debt-free by the end of 2017 -

I tried to claim with HBOS in 2012 using the information on this site which was rejected.

I never bothered going to the ombudsman because I didn't see the outcome changing.

Got a letter a few weeks back from HBOS telling me they were reviewing my claim, shrugged my shoulders and chucked it in the bin.

Got a cheque this morning for nearly 3 grand. :T

Thank you MSE, one very happy saver.

Filled in three mppi claims. No luck with two of them, but just got a letter today that I'm getting £900 for PPI on an alliance and Leicester mortgage I had for only two years between 2001 and 2003 :)
I had no paperwork or anything so am pleasantly surprised on the success.

Tried to reclaim PPI on a loan I had years ago from Nat West I wasn't overly confident. A few weeks later got a letter saying I would get £3500.00 in my account and lo and behold there it was 2 days later: :j:j.

Thank you for all the information. It gave me the confidence to try

  • Just wanted to say thank you!! Today Lloyds Bank credited £4500 into my account. This was for unauthorised overdraft fees and charges. I used the template letter and outlined how and why they had been unfair. I sent the letter 2 weeks ago. They offered me £2700 during a phone call within 7 days and I rejected it. I asked them to put it in writing, but said I was very unhappy with that offer and would need to consider my options. They sent a letter which arrived Saturday offering me £4500 - I accepted it this morning and it was in my account this afternoon :-)
    Thank you MSE!!!

Sent the completed questionnaire from your website to Co-op Bank last Wednesday. I want expecting a quick response. Yesterday they made me an offer for the full amount plus interest. £1,800. I'm thrilled!
