I can only echo the above, I started my claim in 2007 for a LLoyds credit card and I was knocked back because they said I had ticked the box , and I had but had based it on what I had been told in the bank over a loan.
It has been in the hands of the Ombudsman for 5 years almost, out of the blue a letter saying LLoyds had finally agreed to pay out £2,300 kerching....don't give up and above all be patient.and stay positive.
    The years starts today ....
  • Sent standard letter away on 1st March. Was told I would get a response by 28th April.

    Old EggCard now Barclaycard.

Received a letter today upholding my claim will receive £12,100

Waiting on a few other credit card companies to get back to me.

Thanks for all your help Money Saving Expert.

That's great news I have just sent them a 3rd letter with SAR request and asking them to reconsider they are driving me crazy.
Egg seem to be notoriously hard to get to admit misselling from so you did well :)

i had a morgage with halifax which was set up by a adviser i have been told because of this cant get my ppi back is that so

It depends - if you are talking about buying through a broker - pre-2005 no chance (before regulation started), after 2005, depends if the insurance sale was part of the deal to get free advice (i.e. he gets a commission which pays his bill, you get advice without paying) - if it was, and was suitable then again, no chance.

If you are talking about a Halifax advisor in a branch, you may get lucky as they seem to roll-over on MPPI elements

  • Hi, In November 2012 I decided to try to reclaim Mortgage Protection Insurance that had been added to my mortgage when I switched to Cheltenham & Gloucester. I did not ask for this but it was simply added to my payments and I assumed that it was compulsory.

My claim was rejected by them so I decided to take it to the ombudsman who I phoned first before filling in the paperwork, they told me that in these sort of cases it is unlikely that I would get any money back, so I decided that I would be wasting my time pursuing my claim and di not take it any further. A few weeks later I recieved a letter from my mortgage company telling me they had closed the case.

I did feel as though I had been done as I was being totally honest in claiming money back that had been taken from my account without me requesting ppi.

Now 2 1/2 years later I have recieved a letter Cheltenham and Gloucester (Now Lloyds TSB) telling me that they have reassessed my complaint and will be sending me a cheque for £2,190.84 including interest at 8% :j

Well I was gobsmacked and have had to keep reading the letter as I thought I must have had a dream!

All I can say is thank you Lloyds Bank for putting things right and refunding money that is rightfully mine.

Has anyone else had an experience like this?

Some months back I had a call from a PPI claim company who asked which banks I had loans/CCs with etc. I told them I had a loan with Lloyds, he said that Lloyds have a PPI clam line and did I want to be put through to them. I asked if this was a Lloyds bank phone line I'll be connecting with or part of the PPI claim company, he said it's a Lloyds bank phone number. I said I'll do the the phone call later as I was pushed for time but I did, after 4 attempts, find out the company would want 26% of a claim. Each time I was asking he responded as I asked so I was speaking over him.
A day after this phone call I googled the Lloyds PPI claim line and called it and gave them some details. A week or two later I had a questionnaire back to fill out but before I could I had another call from Lloyds and got the policy number and date from them and was told I didn't need to complete the questionaire. Another phone call three weeks ago and more questions asked and some I'd already been asked repeated. The caller said that they now a all the details needed and would write to me with a decision. Today, 22/04 a letter from Lloyds saying the decision had been made in my favour, a payment of £2923 :j from a loan of £6000 due from one phone call and approx an hour of my time since January this year.
I was expecting no more than £800.

Classic example of CMC liars - they would put you through to themselves to take the complaint and then take a chunk of your refund, yet DIY and you keep it all with the equal chance of success

    Hi

I posted about month ago on here about a call from Halifax where they wanted to resurrect a PPI claim for TMP I'd made in 2012 and they'd rejected.
They phoned me and talked through the details again. Several weeks went by and I'd given it up again - not least because some of the long time posters on here seem to say that its difficult to be successful with such claims.
Anyhoo, went to draw some money out of the cash machine two days ago, and the balance was about £3500 higher than it should have been. I initially thought there was an error, but looking at online banking it said 'TFER' ref PPIxxxxx.
Next day a letter turns up saying they want to refund closer to £8500, part of which will be paid direct into bank, and the remainder is coming by cheque.
Happy days. A 'shot to nothing' letter a few years ago has resulted in a nice windfall for us.
    To everyone else, keep going!

Also I took LloydsTSB for just under £10k, when I went voluntarily bankrupt in 2008.

I hope your told your official receiver as banks are now going back over old complaints to check the bankruptcy register and letting the ORs know that money has been paid out.

I have just taken a call from the YB, they have made my calculations and it is being currently quality checked and an offer letter is to be sent out next week. I asked could they give me an indication of the offer and the reply came in excess of £40k.

It took awhile, however I did all by myself, not a CMC in sight and I keep all of the redress.
