I tried claiming PPI last year thro a company, there were about 12 claims in total over 10 years-(I used to swap for 0% credit cards) I was told by all company's/banks that I have no claim. I've since heard that most reject first claims, anyone else had experience of winning second time round?0

That is not the case. However, in each case you were rejected, you had a 6 month period where you could refer your case to the FOS if you disagreed with the outcome. After 6 months, the firm can bar you from access to the FOS and refuse to look at your complaint again.
Did you actually have PPI? With 0% interest cases where you only need to make the 5% payment each month, many do not charge PPI in those cases, even if it was added to the account (it would start when the interest free period ended). So, it is possible you didnt pay any.

Those lovely folks at Santander wrote to me saying they we're reopening 2 PPI claims. This prompted me to make a third claim I had been meaning to do for ages. The outcome is that I have received £20,000 in total over the past 2 months. Totally amazing and I am over the moon.:j:T
Claims with Halifax and RBS going in the post shortly!!0 -
I have just heard from Adjudicator that Cap 1 have told the Ombudsman that they are going to make me an offer rather than my claim going to Chief Ombudsman.. Hooray it just took 21/2 years!
Could anyone tell me what an offer means. The adjudicator said that they ask if I will accept then they send the amount breakdown. Is that normal?0 -

offer will either be a refund of your PPI premiums plus 8% simple interest and any attendant interest (this is a fixed process) or an estimate of PPI premiums if no records are left based on spending patterns from known recordsSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Hi
Hope someone on here can help impart their knowledge my way.
About a year and half ago I made my own ppi claim with Lloyds by filling in their forms however it was refused and I thought nothing of it.
Then about five months ago I made a ppi enquiry with a claim firm for all my old accounts with various banks. However after a couple months I received a letter from Lloyds stating that due to an internal review of all their previous rejected ppi claims they now admit that I was due ppi payout of £2100 and paid me direct into my Lloyds current account.
I presume that was the end of it however last week I received a call from the claims company saying that they has secured me a ppi payout and that they would now invoice me for their 25% fee.
So in summary my question is do I actually owe them this fee as the the payout was as a result of my initial claim and not there and they seem to be taking the credit for it. I have disputed this with them i just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on my dispute?0 -
My card was used from 1998 till about 2009. They could tell me that I put a wee tick in a box in 1998 so I should think their records will be all there. Do I get 8% interest from the start date of paying PPI up to now or does it stop when I closed the card in 2008.offer will either be a refund of your PPI premiums plus 8% simple interest and any attendant interest (this is a fixed process) or an estimate of PPI premiums if no records are left based on spending patterns from known records
Thanks very much for your help and the site for giving me the confidence to persue this on my own. I was wavering when they rejected my claim but reading others success at FOS carried me forward0 -

If you signed for them to look at all PPI that you may have had, including the Lloyds one, then you have to pay.0 -

Debatable on the records part, they may have an old system recording how someone applied and the period of use without having details of the payments - without your own records you'll have to accept their word as they are allowed to estimate based on known spendingSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

Even though I have just spoke to Lloyd this evening and they confirmed that the refund was as a result of their internal review and not due to any agencies or organisation and are willing to put it in writing to me?0
