I am not too sure how far back they will go, they may make an offer on the information they have.
Usually they credit the money to the card they then take this back and raise a cheque, do not "use" the credit to the card as when they raise a cheque you will have to repay this.

Thank you very much, I'll have to see what they come back with. I'm sure they will try and get away with offering the least amount of compensation they possibly can. But they have the original signed contract document from 1988, interesting...

    Marty...
  • Hi, had no luck on my own writing to banks and cards etc. However Claims Guys did get PPI from above bank, now I'm sure about paying them their cut upfront, I thought they would take from the money from the bank, and just send me the two thirds owing to me, after their cut taken??
  • £4500 received from Barclaycard today. :):):):)

Have had various loans from the Halifax over the years, so has my brother, all had PPI added without my/his Knowledge, as it was common practice to either just add it without telling you, or if you did question it, to say it was compulsory, when it clearly was not.

After first reading about PPI reclaiming on this site, a few years ago, i sent two letters to the Halifax, one in my name, one in my brothers name, asking for details of all accounts previously held, that included PPI.

After a couple of weeks, i had a response to both letters, they detailed every loan, and creditcard, my brother and i had ever had with them, in my letter, there were about 3 accounts, i did not even have to ask for a refund as the tick box for PPI had not been ticked on any of them !!! so automatic refund of all premiums, plus 8% interest dating back to 1988, around £4500 in total !!!!

My brother had four loan accounts, three of them had not had tick box ticked, so again, automatic refund totaling around £4000, the last account had the tick box ticked, so no auto refund, but took this one to the FOS, as he had not asked for PPI, and Halifax settled after a few weeks for a further £1500.

So for the cost of two stamps, we got back ten grand between us, chuffed was not the word lol !!!!!!

  • just thought i woulld share this one with you all and say never give up hope....

just before christmass i contacted MBNA and capitol one about PPI i had back on credit cards i had way back in 2005!!!

capital one rejected at i had ticked "ppi box" so was my choice which i couldnt argue

but MBNA was all done over the phone and couldnt remember if i had been asked any question about current circumstances as i was in a secure job (only leaving if they sacked me)(am still there after 15 yrs. and benefits were 6mnths full pay 6mnths half pay so should of been able to repay if i was off sick (which i wasnt). got a letter saying complaint upheld they will be reimbersing me with 1900ish pounds.

so its never too late if you think you have an honest reason for complaining.

  • Hello all,

I too have started some PPI claims on an old credit card and two loans, which were attached to an old Yorkshire Bank account. I know that at the time I said yes to PPI, but I believe I was mis-sold it as I did not need it. Is that enough to reclaim the money I paid, or do I need to be more specific?

Thanks for any help you can offer

Tried to claim PPI from Barclaycard in 2012 only managed to send standard template letter off here and got rejected. Due to personal reasons didn't follow it up with FOS, but tried again last month and got a nice £1515.87 back this week! Now onto Argos card services who have also this time agreed to look into my complaint and should hear back by 23rd march fingers crossed!!!

Did you have a good sick package from work?.
Did you work less than 16 hours a week?

    Did you have life insurance?

Was the PPI added on to the loan total and you made one payment a month for account?, if you did then this was Single Premium PPI, in effect a loan on the loan repayable to term end with interest.

Use the above as reasons for mis sell if they apply to you, show you did not need it.
