Update:Are they the only 2 reasons you gave for mis sell above?, it looks as if you need to give reasons for mis sell other than those you gave initially.
If you paid the PPI in with the loan payment each month, this is Single Premium PPI and one reason you could use for mis sell, this is in effect a loan on the loan repayable to term end with interest, if you settled the loan early you would have been given a rebate of the PPI but the remaining PPI would have been repaid by you in the settlement figure, so you repay the majority of the PPI back anyway, none of this would have been explained to you I guarantee.
Had this been known to you, it is possible you would not have taken this PPI.
If you had life insurance that would have repaid the loan then you may not have needed the life cover the PPI offered.
Your Husband had a good sick package that paid for 12 months? if so, it is possible the PPI only covered you for 12 months too, so you did not need that part of the PPI either, you have to show reasons why you did not need it, use all 3 above and ask for the claim to be reconsidered.
Hi Amersall..
Wrote back to the adjudicator with all the points you kindly gave me , she rang me earlier today once again saying she will not be upholding my claim as she cannot take my points into account and repeated that as I had ticked the box that is enough for her to accept that I chose to take the ppi, and that she can only use the mortgage code to make her decision. What I dont understand is why does she keep saying are there any other points that I would like her to take into account ? she says she is happy that the paperwork with the tick on is sufficient for her to not uphold no matter what points I give!
I have asked for her to send my full complaint for the Ombudsman to look over , she did say twice that the Ombudsman wont uphold but she will do as I ask.
I felt as if she wanted me to say something that would alter her decision but I am now at a loss.
Finding it hard to accept but there it is.
Thanks for your help0 -

Ombudsman tends to support adjudicator (about 89% of the time) - so it's likely they will but who knows.
The trouble will always be that they have to judge it on facts and evidence and ticking a box to say you wanted it is fairly comprehensive evidence.
See what happens at the ombudsman but don't hold out hope for it so if they change their mind it'll be a bonusSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Don't give up I have just been awarded 21k ! Whoop whoop M&S turned me down twice citing it was a postal application so took it to the Ombudsman Have waited two years but worth it. This site has been brilliant as I used it as a starting point and it gave me the confidence to pursue. Very happy. The award was backdated to 1985.0

Hi, new to this so please bear with me....
If I put in a claim and the company offers me a refund + interest - is that acceptable, and how do you work out what should be returned?
I was offered the original premium + 4%
I did this via phone to the bank (RBS) and it was arranged relatively pain free, bar a few phone calls to verify details and chase up
I am also thinking of contacting Egg, but they do not exist so I guess I shall have to write to them?
How far back do you claim for?
I took out a loan with PPI in 2000....
If you do not have any policy numbers (as people move, and papers get shreded in 15 years!), how do you go about it?
Thankyou in advance!0 -
Do the above, in red, if you need any more help, just ask.newbie2013 wrote: »Hi, new to this so please bear with me....

Was this upheld or a goodwill gesture, did they pay the 8%, did you have any documentation and was this a loan or card?

Not too sure but I think it is Barclays you contact

Depends on what documentation you have, or if the bank can find you after 14 Years

You contact the bank and ask, you could send a Sar request, this will cost £10 and ask for all info they hold on you, again they may not have anything after 14 years.
Thankyou in advance!0 -
I just received confirmation of successful PPI reclaim of £4800 from LLYODS bank on loans I had taken out over 10 years ago.
I had no paperwork (had moved several times and had destroyed out of date paperwork), but knew I'd had loans - but wasn't sure if they included PPI.
A quick visit to my branch to ask for details of all my loan accounts (open and close dates and account numbers) followed by a phone call to the central loans unit requesting statements of all my loans.
Discovered PPI had been included.
Sent complaint letter using helpful guidance found on MSE, received forms from LLYODS which I completed as best as possible, had a telephone interview. And within 3 weeks recieved confirmation that they Will be refunding £4800 (which includes interest - tax is taken off this amount - so will be getting approximately £4000 back).
This is going to make a big difference to my finances. It's is totally worth investing a few hours of your time (I think it took me 3-4 hours in total -visiting my bank, filling in forms, and telephone interview
Its never too late, and don't worry if you don't have your paperwork.0 -

Good one on your win but the the last line is wrong, banks have been sending out letters alerting people to the fact they had PPI to enable them to start time barring complaints 3 years after the letter - complain immediately if you do feel you were miss-soldSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

Rang RBS on Monday & asked if I had any PPI in the past. I had no info at all on any loans I had had in the past. They took about 1 min to find that I had a £3000 loan back in '93 that had PPI attached to it. Then I answered 7 short questions.
On the following Saturday I received a letter from RBS saying I had been awarded £1021 refund! Result!!0 -
I used the MSE PPI template & wrote off to my old credit card companies asking if I was ever charged PPI. Most answered no, a few wanted admin costs before they would investigate, but 1 (Mint) said yes. I was called & questioned about how I’d gone about applying for the card (10 years ago), & whether I’d knowingly requested PPI. I was told they would investigate further.
RBS wrote to me basically stating that I must have known that I had PPI as it was printed on the statements, therefore they will not reimburse me.
I wrote back stating a few errors that they had made in their assumptions, & telling them that in 2004 when I applied for the Mint credit card I believed that PPI was a requirement should I want to be successful in acquiring the card (as I was led to believe by Alliance & Leicester during a loan application in 2001).
I received a further reply from RBS on 21st November apologizing for their errors & standing by their decision.
I wrote to the Financial Ombudsman, who took up my case & I was finally awarded £380.80.
Don't take no for an answer, fight them all the way!0
