Having gone through my PPI offer letters, i noticed that some were either 'defended' or 'upheld in part'. What does this mean? And could it be true that although i got these loans around the same time, some would not have had PPI or are they fobbing me off? I also noticed that those that were paid 'could possibly have been higher' cos they mentioned 'due to the passage of time' that they no longer have detailed records about my loan!! How true is this.

On another CC they seem to be withholding information because they say that: 'Due to the length of time which has passed we have no way of confirming the amount of premiums paid, interest accrued or if any claims have been paid under the policy. As such, to resolve your complaint my offer for this card is equal to our average compensatory payment' - Is this acceptable? Thanks for taking the time to read this

    defended - you didn't win
upheld in part - they admit some failings, and will refund some money
    it's true
it's acceptable - you have no records, and they are obliged to destroy them if they are no longer necessary - to find out what paperwork they have left, send them a SAR and £10

Lloyds TSB has a tricky way! They send you the cheque first and the letter comes days after. So if you had 14days to reject the offer wouldnt that be too late then?

Hi everyone, just wanted to ask if anyone else has had a letter from MBNA out of the blue? they paid a small amount of ppi rebate 3 years ago and today got a letter stating that 'following routine quality assurance checks, we have identified and administration error and the ppi refund was calculated incorrectly'. Basically in the next 28 days they will send my outstanding £2911.14 :j:j:j:j:j:j oh happy day!!!!!!
Thanks for all the help along the way MSE!!

Well done, I have had two like yours with MBNA since January.
Same reason administration error and recalculated .
They repaid within two weeks of both letters. :T

  • I contacted the people I was paying about ppi and they said my bank had sold it to me so to contact them. Does anyone know what to do in this case? I originally told the ppi people that I thought they mis-sold it to me on teh bassis my bank already covered me for this. How to proceed?

Hi all ; I knew I had had lots of loans with RBS but couldn't be bothered to try and root out the required info.
RBS actually wrote to me in November of last year stating I may have been mis-sold on 10 ( yes 10 ) loans between 1998 and 2008
My finances were always my weak point , I was constantly re-financing substantial loans , sometimes 3 times a year - anyway , I decided , after doing a bit of MSE research to go for it and duly filled in the forms and off they went.
The bank then rung me and asked a few questions - I put them off until I'd read a bit more on MSE , they called back , asked some more questions to which I now had some bang-on answers and within 2 weeks I had a decision from them
£21,630.40 - yes , you read right!!!! :rotfl:£14+k in PPI , and the rest in interest.
To be honest , I couldn't believe how simple it was if you follow Martin's tips and would recommend anyone to JUST DO IT.
