Hi, I have taken on the challenge of tracing ppi on my brothers loans/ hp and credit card. I have three initial problems.
How can I approach these institutions on his behalf- I presume this isn't unusual?
He has two loans with black horse( paid up in 2008 and 2009)and although we have the dates and an idea of the amounts involved from the Experain report this only gives the last 4 digits of the account numbers. How do I find the full numbers or will this be enough for black horse?
Do I fill in the fso forms or send an initial letter.
I hope you can help. I am on for a beer if I can sort all this for him and it is a long time since he bought me one!
Thanks0 -
they are saying as there is still a balance on the card the money they owe me will pay of the outstanding and it seams so un fair

I've been posting on this forum for a while regarding the outcome of my PPI complaints but thought a summary may be helpful to those setting off on the PPI reclaim journey now that I have reached successful conclusion of my own:
MBNA: claimed Aug 12 - cheque Sept 12 (very quick!)
Cap One: claimed Aug 12 - Cheque Dec 12
Morgan Stanley (Barclaycard): claimed Aug 12-FO Oct 12 - upheld Cheque Sept 13
Goldfish (Barclaycard) claimed Aug 12 - FO Oct 12 - upheld cheque Oct 13
Nat West: claimed Aug 12 - FO Oct 12 - upheld cheque (finally) Feb 14.
I was always in it for the long haul after all nothing ventured nothing gained. If you refer a complaint to the FO be patient and optimistic...after all it only cost you the price of a 1st class stamp. Massive thanks to Martin and MSE for making the whole process simple and to reiterate what several have posted DO NOT USE A CLAIMS COMPANY...the results are no faster and you are paying over the odds for something you can do yourself! GOOD LUCKDebt at Sept 2006 £63,500:eek:
Debt at Sept 2012 £24,400
DFD Dec 2012! (if PPI claims come in) !!

Provider - Lloyds
Amount reclaimed - £46,106
Amount paid - £46,100
The story - rang Llloyds PPI claim line in August'13 to register my claim. I had very little details of dates/amounts etc but they said they would look into it & write to me within 4weeks. They did write explaining that they were investigating & would contact me with a decision within 4 weeks. In October they wrote to me confirming that my claim was upheld & the offer was £46,100. I had to do nothing more and they paid the £46,100 into my account within a fortnight which closed the case. Very nice reading on my bank statement!0 -
My last post was in October 2013 Re: My ongoing PPI Claim with Redcats/Shop Direct Ltd. My PPI was added via a cold call in 2006 when the catalogue company was owned by Redcats. There was a change in ownership in 2008 and Shop Direct took over. Now there is a dispute as to who is responsible for the mis-sell.
I received an update last week from the Ombudsman. It will be two years in April, since I commenced this complaint. I have filled out the forms and given them all the information available to me, including copies of replies I have received from both companies, one of which states that there was no paperwork at the time of the sale. Here is an extract from my latest update from the Ombudsman -
"I wish to provide you with an update on your complaint, which is currently awaiting review by an adjudicator.
We have a dispute about which business is responsible for the mis-sale of PPI in this case. I appreciate that you completed paperwork when you first made this complaint, but to help our investigation, please could you send in any additional information from the time of sale, that has not already been submitted to us. Examples of this include the loan / credit card agreements, policy documents and copies of application forms.
I would like to thank you if this information has already been supplied.
I will update you again in six months if your case is not with an adjudicator to progress".
At least they mention the word "mis-sale"....I have replied saying that I have no additional paperwork. Not sure where we go from here...0 -
I am in shock...I got my ppi back since 2003 around £2100.
I was sure that I would not get it back as they tried to say it was not a case but I stuck at it and hey presto, I rang yesterday to check they had received my last correspondance and he said a letter was in the post with a full and final offer.
Just need the cheque now, and they said it could take 14 days:j0
