PPI Party Pooper Debt-free and Proud!
What were you reclaiming: credit card

Who was the provider: Egg card

How much did you get back: £380 (after taxes deducted)

Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: FOS

And then write your brief reclaim tale

Started my claim Jan 2012 - shunted backwards and forwards between Egg (then Derbyshire) and Canada Square. Initial claim rejected even though initial paperwork that I had kept copies of had no mention of PPI. Also kept a copy of a further email questioning said PPI. Took complaint to FOS - 2 year later - success. (Well cheque is on its way)

Special thanks to Amersall for your help in the beginning. This one was particularly frustrating for me as I had already tried in the past to cancel the PPI!
  • Hi I want to report a recent success story, after listening to adverts saying they can claim my ppi and aslo reading your page, towards the end of NovemberI decided to give it a try myself and started a claim against RBS my loan was for £6000 in 2006, all it took was a 10 min telephone call and my claim was processed, I recieved a letter saying they were investigating it and just before xmas I was offered £2017. I have now applied for 3 other PPI and will recieve answers within the next few weeks, I will keep you posted on this.
I also helped my mum apply through the TSB , we had to write a quick letter with a £10 cheque asking for information, once she recieved her statements I could not find referance to PPI at all, so we decided to call them and find out, she has 7 loans with them and they all have PPI on them, she was retired when this was sold to her and according to your website she def has a claim, I will keep you posted on the results of this too. I was really suprised how easy it was to claim and happy I took this websites advice , it really has everything you need to know and is very very helpful
  • Hi i'm new to the forum so please be kind!!!
Any advice would be much appreciated.
I have made several ppi complaints which most have been successful but the one i need advice about is ppi on a credit card from nationwide. They sent me a offer which was set out as follows
    A....PPI refund of premiums £2621.49
    B....Refund of overlimit fees £48.00
C....Interest at the card rate TBC
D....Interest at 8% on any credit card balance (this
will be calculated upon receipt of my signed TBC
acceptence and will be paid for a maximum of
28 days from the date of your final response letter) TBC
E....Tax deducted at 20% on 8% compensation interest
(tax to be calculated once 8% compensation interest
    calculated)
    F......Total refund (A+B+C+D+E) TBC

In the letter that came with this it said the figures labelled TBC
would be calculated on return of my acceptence letter,
which i signed & returned on 28.12.13 but today i received a letter saying they confirm the amount of £3598.31 will be refunded to my credit card account within 7-14 days.
the refund is made up of
    Refund of premiums.............£2621.49
    Invalid cverlimit charges........£48.00I
    Interest at card rate...............£928.82
    Total....................................£3598.31

There was no mention of any interest so please can anyone tell me what i should do or have i been done by nationwide :( by signing without getting figures before i signed.
all the other companies barclaycard argos citi cards lloyds yorkshire bank include the 8% interest.:T

sorry that is's been a long tale but all advice will be much appreciated.
  • Can I just say a big thank you to Martin and all the team for the stuff on PPI on this website/forum?

I used everything that was suggested to claim back PPI on a credit card going back many years and have received a sum in excess of £13,000 back.

Looking at the things one can use in the claim I think I had a full house, but even so without the help of the folks behind the site, and the posters on the forum I would have struggled to get the claim going.

So really big thanks to all. :T

Contact them and ask about the 8%, only they can tell you, it is possible the 8% will be calculated separately, ask them if they are raising a cheque to you and taking the refund back off the card, this is what they normally do, do not spend any refund to the card if they are sending you a cheque.
  • Hiya, I wanted to share a successful ppi claim from Blackhorse, I never thought in a million years I would get my money back but I did, I wrote a simple letter saying I hadnt agreeded to ppi and I wanted my money back, 2 weeks later I received a letter and a form to fill in to have my cheque sent out, the cheque was for £2600,00 of which I was entitled to half as I spilt with my ex patner some time ago, I then received another letter about another loan this one is for £1100,00 again I'm entitled to half just waiting for the cheque, I'm over the moon :j I'm now trying Natwest but not getting very far, I cant find the policy numbers and they say they wont deal with my complaint unless I have them, I have wrote to them asking for this information with no joy, any help with this would be great, thanks in advance

    :j dont give up:j
  • Hi there every body..ive posted before about my ppi ..i had 13 years ago...when i was selfemployed in a hotel my own buisness..and lost it as they said i had no ppi when i took ill......i kept telling them i did..and they rep posessed my hotel ...early this year i found out they sold it and payed off all my debt..so i thought i would once again try and claim ppi...no was the responce....so i tried to track down an old bank manager who my god helped me ...he found all my loan agreements and yes i did have ppi ...claim back in..and i won....but now im claiming copmensation for looseing my hotel .....they normaly pay ppi .first then sort any compensation out after this if any...this is why its taking a long time to find out figures from them..any way today without any compensation award as there handeling all the claim together.....but they did tell me my ppi ..a wopping 40,000 ..this is amazing all these years of telling them i had ppi and been told no and loosing everything i finally got back what i should have had.....then there my compensation which i deserve ..thank you to everybody who helped me with this.......
