  • Hi All,

Just wanted to add that I had put in PPI claims earlier this year for loans taken out with Lloyds TSB and after a couple of months of waiting and talking to Lloyds I got back ......£11500!

So obviously go for it if your thinking about a claim. And the cash was in the bank the day the letter arrived to tell us :-)

Have rang 5 times and got the same answer.
Why are you ringing them while they are still in the eight week consideration period? You can't hurry them, they will take all the time they need.

have given up on this as Black Horse say they only go back 6 years.

I would try their archive dept, I did with Barclay's on a loan from the 90's and it took a few weeks for them to find my info. They did and paid out within the 8 weeks.
  • anyone know how long Barclays are roughly taking to pay out refunds from when they write to you - are they actually taking the 28 days they say - they have my bank details. thanks
  • Hiya

I just wanted to share my claims so far:

    HSBC - £8.901

    Intelligent Finance - £700.45

    M&S - £4232

    Natwest - £2700.

I also have an ongoing one with Halifax.

Just to make people aware I did not use one of those agencies I did it direct. The M&S one I did not even have any paperwork or loan numbers or anything I just rang them and they looked up my name and address and could see which loans I had with them. I urge anyway just to make that call!

    :)
  • OMG - I read through the PPI reclaiming threads last week after finding out that I have been paying PPI on my Barclays overdraft for the past 8 years. Thought it was worth giving it a go to claim back this money - I've never tried to claim before. Followed the instructions and this morning found out that I've been repaid £1800. Can't believe we've been successful and am so glad that I did this myself and didn't pay one the PPI companies to do it for me. Anyone who is thinking of claiming back I would say - go for it and do it yourself using all the help and advice on this site. Thank you so much

£3,700 cheque from Barclays Select for a PPI taken out in 1998 came today!
I was expecting about £200 because it was so long ago and I had no idea how much the PPI had cost me
My friend has also received a cheque from Lloyds today for £2000..
Thank you all so much , you cannot imagine how much the advice given on here has helped our financial situation.

    PPI Party Pooper
Following great advice on here I decided to pursue my ppi complaint.
Lloyds TSB was my first port of call...
After they received my complaint i had a call from their department asking me various questions about the original sale in 1993, they went back this far due to any subsequent loans being consolidation loans which tied in with this original borrowing.
All complaints on loans with PPI were upheld leading to an offer yesterday of £11,994. Which was nice :0)

Now waiting for my SAR from Northern rock and Lombard direct.

    :)
  • So, I am currently on maternity leave, so had a bit a spare time to sort out some old paperwork whilst waiting for my dear daughter to arrive. Anyway I found some details from three loans in the early nineties which I thought we had distroyed the paperwork long ago. Worth the cost of a bit of printing and some stamps I thought. So filled in the complaint forms and forgot about it. 1st to reply was Egg. An offer if just over £5000. Then yesterday Natwest, well 2 offers totalling just over £7500. Totally gob smacked. All for an hour or so and a couple of stamps!! Must look again through our paperwork, might buy me more time with the little one! So if anyone is unsure, what do you have to loose, fill in the firms and send off. If you don't ask you don't get. And do it yourself, don't even think of using one of these claim companies.
Also a big thank you to forums like these for the positive (and negatives) of making a claim. Not sure I'd have bothered otherwise.
    Merry Christmas everyone!
  • What were you reclaiming: loans
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: £10,023.69
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: initial call to Lloyds PPI helpline and follow up questionnaire then complaint letter

As I posted before initially made the complaint by phone which was followed up with one form to complete for all the loans (7 in the end with ppi) initial complaint being logged 29th October

Had one conversation when lloyds called and told them what I could remember about them all which wasn't much. Mis selling was because I was told they were compulsory to get the loan and had good benefits.

First decision came back 9th December upholding the complaints on all loans after 2000. These included one taken online. Three from the 1990s were "defended".

I followed this up with a detailed letter showing how the handling of my complaint failed to follow FOS guidelines and asking them to reconsider or I'd have to send to the FOS.

Sent a copy of this to the Lloyds CEO also with a covering letter asking him to help.

Further call from UK this time 18th December to discuss the 1990s loans. They have no central records and cannot tell when the loan started just that it had PPI. I had to explain how much they were for etc

Anyway received today offer of "average compensatory amount" of £1615.40 per loan plus £50 for goodwill as I'd had to complain about the PPI complaint as well

Under 2 months for just over 10k and we have been able to pay off a serious chunk of our household debt so thanks everyone and good luck!!
