Your credit report will show the last 6 years of credit you've had or ended during that time. If you can remember anything that's not on the list, you've had it, because there is no company that can find that out

Experian/Equifx/Noddle are your first ports of call - please make sure you're getting a free look, don't pay for it.
And you are not claiming, you are complaining that a product was missold.

Thanks - so I guess more fool me for not having kept records going back 6 years, or do they only look into loans/cards going back 6 years?

Also - I've had a letter today from CPP ("Card Protection and Identity Protection" from "Card Protection Plan Limited") - saying that I'm invited to vote on how they review the way "my plan" was sold, and that my voting form is enclosed. Is this legit, and if so, have they already done the homework on my credit file, and will they want a large slice for their work? If they've got all the bases covered, and want, say, 10% of any repayment, it sounds tempting to have them do the legwork....what's the advice please?

We took out a Nemo secured loan about 2003 and were sold the front loaded 5 year with money back if no claims PPI. £11,000 and only cover for one of us for 5 of the ten year loan. (Boy we were naive)
Paid off the loan 3 years later but because the cash in value was so low also paid off the policy and kept it running.
We then had one claim for redundancy to the value of £1600 about one year later which was paid out.
I contacted Nemo a few years ago about the mis selling but hit a brick wall and because we had made a small claim thought we would not stand a chance
Then we had a letter from Capital one 8 weeks ago about mis selling of this PPI so filled in the form using the mis selling advice given here and had a letter today .
They are repaying, after usual deductions, just over £15,500 !
Thank you for all the fantastic advice on this thread :A

Good afternoon what an encouraging read. I went after nemo 2 years ago and also hit a brick wall. Can you pm how you went about it again. Some advice would be most welcome.

You must be delighted. ... :)

Hi Tried to PM but you have blocked all pm's ?
    Anyway ..
They contacted us ..perhaps because they already had a complaint on file , although I didn't follow it up and it was a few years ago
I think the fact that it was front loaded and did not run for the whole duration of the loan was a case for mis selling.
We did not even know that Capital One had any connection to Nemo
    Hope this helps
  • Hi All

Once again many thanks for all the information set out in this forum.

Latest complaint was re my credit card PPI to HSBC.I have now received £17000.

They are also investigating the mis-selling re my bank loan.
  • I've recently been offered £1000 from First Direct for a loan I took out over 10 years ago. I had no paperwork and just filled in the FOS questionnaire. This one was really a shot in the dark due the length of time since I took out the loan and having no paperwork. I also had payouts from NRAM, Egg, Tesco and Co-op bank last year. All by just filling out the FOS questionnaire and sending in copies of loan paperwork where I had it. It really is that easy so PLEASE don't waste money on claim handlers or think it's not worth bothering claiming. The advice on MSE is generally excellent but I've noticed there some posters that are perhaps overly pessimistic when handing out advice. For the price of stamps and filling in a form there's nothing to lose.
