PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Funnily enough, MBNA/BOA have sent me a cheque through the post for £6794 which arrived this afternoon. I won't be cashing it though and intend to send them a letter with the accompanying credit card statements (Thanks Taff ). I have never known a bank to work so quickly !! As stated earlier, I'm surprised that they didn't even ask whether I was going to accept or reject their offer which I thought was standard procedure. It would have saved them a cheque.0

i stopped paying ppi in 2010, i have now made a claim but the cc company say they can only back date to 2005 even though they agree that i have held the card since 1993. as they don't keep records for any longer. surely in these days if you can trace your ancesters back to the 18th century they must be able to trace accounts for 20 years!
are they stalling me?0 -

Banks routinely destroy records older than six years in line with the data protection guidelines of their regulator.

What was the original PPI amount?.
Did you settle early?.
Do you have any paperwork?.
Did you have any arrears?.
Without this info we cannot help you.0 -

Not always, Barclays for example keep records in their archives even though they are not on their electronic systems, as they found records for me back from 1990. The poster could write to the bank as ask them to check their archives0 -

Seems like a good offer to me, you only paid around 12 PPI payments, you get back what you paid in PPI with the interest on those payments.
When you settled early (2 years approx) they would have given you a rebate of the PPI, they take this back and you get the remaining PPI.
 Congrats on your win.0 -

In addition, the poster concerned has already been told by the Bank that no records older than six years exist for her account.
The only way to be certain of having the Bank consider older PPI payments is, as I said earlier, for the poster to provide records from her own archive.0 -
hi, I've just won a ppi claim off an old beneficial bank loan which is great news as it means loan is paid off ,plus still some left over for myself.:j:j:j
(the loan account said "no ppi" on yearly updates of account that i still have in my files)
it was only during a conversation over a credit card that did have ppi ,that they informed me that the loan did have ppi too.
The account went into default after I missed two payments during a short period in my life when I gave up on life, became depressed, was ill and off work due to the depression and it took me a short time to get back on my feet again.
By the time I had got myself back on my feet beneficial had already taken my loan to court, which I lost as didn't have chance to fight it.
my question is as it has been proved that i was mis-sold ppi, is it possible for me to claim the court costs back for going into default too????.
As i feel, if the ppi i had "was" worth the paper it was written on,surely beneficial should have activated a "fit for purpose" ppi, instead of having to take me to court at huge extra cost to me seeing as i was ill and off work.
Don't get me wrong i'm grateful for winning my ppi back,it just that i feel I've been done wrong twice.
1. by being mis-sold a worthless ppi plan.
2. by being taken to court when the ppi plan was surposed to be there to protect me if ever i was unable to keep up with re-payments.......... i.e "off work with depression".
any advice would be very helpful.
thanks, and don't give up with your claims.
some even pop up when you don't expect them too.:T:T:T0
