PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

About 18 months ago husband and I successfully received redress from several mis sold PPI complaints totalling over £37,000 with the help and encouragement of this forum.
:T
During this time, OH had requested info on a cc he had had with Citi Financial in 2004 but when he wrote to them asking about PPI, they replied they did not give information on closed accounts and he didn't follow it up with SAR.:o
Fast forward to 3 weeks ago and OH received a letter from NatWest saying he may have been mis sold on a loan he had taken out and repaid early. He then remembered he’d had same letter from Citi Financial about the cc but due to work commitments had not replied.
Both forms duly completed, and Citi Financial complaint upheld and cheque today for £1113!
Now awaiting decision from NatWest……..0 -

Please can anybody help with information on my PPI issue, nearly two years ago I claimed against the Black Horse after quite a few months I received a reply from them stating that my claim was unsuccessful. Because I was convinced I was in the right to make a claim I then decided as a last resort to put my PPI claim in the hands of a PPI claim company, I filled out all the information which was identical to my previous claim made direct to the Black Horse. After nearly one year I have received a letter stating that my claim was successful. When I received the letter there was an invoice from the PPI claim company requesting just over £1000.
Obviously I am happy that I have now been successful but the fact that I initially made my claim direct to the Black Horse and they said it was unsuccessful and consequently my claim using a PPI claims company has cost £1000 I feel is unfair and I need some advice if its possible to claim this charge back from the Black Horse and if so what would be the best method to go about it.0 -

As you signed a contract with the claim co and they won for you, you have to pay them, I doubt BH would entertain a claim for this fee as you could have easily rejected the initial rejection with BH yourself for free.0 -

It's very strange that the Bank allowed you to complain again, as normally there is only one opportunity allowed.
There is no way you can claim back the claims company commission from the Bank or anyone else. No one forced you to use a claims company and your repeated complaint would have obviously been just as successful without the intervention of this company who simply forwarded your concerns.
Basically, you've wasted £1,000, but you have no one to blame for this but yourself.
It's just an another example of why no one here will recommend using a claims company in any circumstance.
Sorry.
EDIT Just noticed you also started a different thread about this in which you provided the reason that your apparent "first" complaint failed.remesoldier_on_his_other_thread wrote: »I failed to mention after my rejection from the lender I did go to the FOS and I received a letter from them informing me that I would need to approach the company who I purchased the goods from and that they could not help !!!!
The problem is that you failed to complain to the correct recipient at your original attempt. FOS informed you of this, but you thought it wiser to employ the CMC who then simply approached the seller of your PPI as FOS had already advised.remesoldier_on_his_other_thread wrote: »I never included that information because there is no chance I will get any form of compensation from FOS however compensation from the lender (Black Horse) to pay the PPI Claims company seems only right.
I'm afraid t was your failure to research who to make your complaint to which cost you £1000. No one will be refunding this to you. You should have simply followed the advice given by FOS, who could not have helped you further until you made a valid complaint to the correct recipient.
Again, sorry.0 -
Filled in their online ppi reclaim form for a loan I took out in 2005 (which was the only loan I could find any paperwork for). 10 days later I got a cheque for £1,777 from a loan I took out in 2001. The next day I got another cheque for £1,002.84 from a loan I took out in 1998. The following day I got yet another cheque for £4,037.89 from the loan I took out in 2005. A grand total of £6,817.73.:j
Not bad going for the sake of half an hour to fill the online form in, and a lot more than I was expecting. And because of this windfall, I am now completely debt free.:D0 -

FOS don't pay compensation to anyone, they are the arbitrator who instruct the seller of PPI to pay if they rule in favour of the customer in a disputed complaint.

I sent my PPI claim to the Bank first which got rejected, then I sent the details to FOS. FOS said go to the retailer, the retailer replied stating the loan was via the bank and also the bank was responsible for the PPI. As a last resort I used a PPI claims company and last week I received a letter from the Bank stating my claim was successful and two days later I received a letter from the PPI claims company also stating my claim was successful !!!!!! at which point I also received the invoice from the PPI claims company requesting £1000.
Hope this clarifies things because I don`t know what else to say, the PPI was via the bank I complained to the bank and then to the FOS who obviously gave me bad information at which point I decided to use a PPI Company at which point the Bank then decides to pay !!!!
So it was my own fault yea right thanks0
