It's only possible if there was a pre-populated box for PPI during your application; one you had to actively un-tick to deselect. Otherwise, a disputed online or postal application is deemed to have been mis-bought because no one actually sold it to you.
Do remember that the letter you received was simply an invitation to complain which allows the Bank to apply a time-bar against any future complaints you might make.

It's important to note that if you defaulted or had any portion of the debt written off as part of a debt management plan etc then the Bank are likely going to offset any redress (should it be awarded) against this unpaid debt.

I successfully had my PPI refund sent direct to me even though was in a dmp and had defaulted

There are always exceptions to every rule.:)
  • a disputed online or postal application is deemed to have been mis-bought because no one actually sold it to you.
I submitted an SAR to my credit card companies prior to claiming so I actually had a copy of the credit card appliction form in my possession when completing my PPI complaint form.
Actually having a copy of the application form is very different from disputing an online application for which no "copy" will ever be available through a SAR or otherwise.
  • I made an online application for a credit card, and received a copy of my CCA throught the post, showing that I did not tick the box for PPI. Now the cc company have sent me a copy with the PPI box ticked, whereas my copy clearly shows that the box is unticked. Where do I stand now after having my rejection letter?

Send a copy back to them and ask them to look into this.

MBNA did the same to me I challenged them and my complaint was upheld.
    Light travels faster than sound.

This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.
  • Thanks for that, I have already done that and also sent a SAR request and have totted up all the payments made . Am also going to now go for late charges etc.;)
  • I received a letter from Llyods TSB about 3 months ago about PPI being miss-sold and filled in the relevant information. Approximately 1 month later I got a phone call. I originally thought I only had PPI on one account and was told at the time I wouldn't be accepted for the loan if I didn't take out the PPI.
The phone call asked me some information about my circumstances at the time and if my employer paid sick pay, redundancy, my health at the time etc.
After answering the questions she went through all my loans and to my surprise I had PPI on all 7 of my loans :D.
Went through the same criteria of questions for each.
I had no knowledge of PPI being added to these loans, and was pretty annoyed, I took these loans out 7-10 years ago. The final loan being paid off now and remembered just signing everything they gave me I was about 20 years old when I got these loans and as such probably shouldn't of got the loans in the first place.
Anyway I received a letter this morning and they're refunding £3,994.78, which isn't to shabby. I figured I'd be getting maybe £1000 so pleasantly surprised.

Long story short don't got through PPI companies the process does take a long time but totally worth it. In addition aside from filling out some paperwork and answering a few questions over the phone it was pretty painless. The actual time I spent dealing with this was about 25 minutes which equates to £159.79 per minute. For Those 25mins I was earning more than Lionel Messi and Ronaldo.
  • Hello everyone

So Nationwide got in touch with me regarding PPI for two loans I took out in 2005 and 2006

    2005 (loan amount £11,250.00)
    2006 (loan amount £11,230.00)

and I sent back all the details, filled in the form and they've sent me an offer of compensation for £3,323

Naturally I am delighted by this (and how quickly they came to the decision) but are they trying to short change me, or does this sound about right?

Thanks in advance for your help
  • If you've received back all PPI paid plus interest then that's full redress.
  • Thanks

As this was from 2005/2006 (and I now live overseas and don't have any paperwork regarding these loans) how can I tell it's ALL the PPI?

    Cheers again
