PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I followed your guide and am chasing three lots of PPI, one just paid out and I have a cheque for £1157.00 from Egg. I am a very happy bunny.
One is sitting with the FOS and I am awaiting an outcome on the third.
Thanks Martin xxx0 -
A consolidated chain of loans with single premium from a regulated company is a sure fire uphold.
No one should be encouraged to add vague threats of "seeking professional help" nor need add personal details of staff members etc. None of these things will cause the Bank to deal with the complaint more swiftly or help swing a decision in the complainant's favour.
Filling the Ombudsman Complaint Questionnaire as clearly and concisely as possible is by far the best way of submitting a PPI mis-selling complaint.0 -
Just wanted to update on my success with PPI
1-Nationwide (loan acct) - Wrote to me saying that I may have been mis-sold PPI and had to complete a form. Form completed and sent off and received a chq about three weeks later for £1500
2-Halifax (credit card) - After a bit of research I thought I may have also been mis-sold PPI on this account. So I sent the standard letter to Halifax, they then wrote back and I spoke to them. They at first refused my claim. I then called again explaining further about how my PPI was mis-sold (staff in branch offered me CC upon opening my current account and failed to explain any charges). I got a letter last week upholding my claim to the tune of £3400. This took 5 months!
I also tried my luck on other cards I had with MBNA and Barclaycard and unfortunately I wasnt as fortunate on these. Still happy with my results.0 -

Barclaycard have upheld my complaint, agree it was missold but claim that as no premiums were paid, there is nothing to refund me. What??? I had a balance on that credit card for years. Something smells fishy here. Asked them to look into it again and following a chase up call from me was told the same thing as before. I phoned on 25/07/13 as am still awaiting the letter they claim was prepared on 24/07/13 to tell me this. Anyway, I have sent off an SAR - lets see what that brings up!
I have had the same letter today 8 Nov, going to to the SARS bit next. They have admitted PPI was attached to account but have no record of how much I have paid!!!! Account was active for 15 years with no need for PPI at any time. Have you had anymore joy?0 -
hi! I'm just after a bit of advice if anyone can help! I'm looking into reclaiming ppi from my deceased parents estates as I'm sole executor and beneficiary, however I don't think I have any details for any loans etc. that they had, they died 3 and 5 years ago, what can I do when I only know who their banks where, and mortgage provider, and only have their death certificates? how difficult would that be to prove they were mis-sold from donkeys years ago?? any help and advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!0

To find out what records there are left, then you should send a SAR and £10 to them - bear in mind there may be nothing left, and you will have wasted £10. If you want to go ahead, and the SAR will only give you [possibly] account numbers, it doesn't mean you'll have a successful complaint, then see the front page sticky for a template.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

I've had a letter today from Barclaycard telling me my complaint has been upheld, bad news is they don't have a record of any payments so won't be paying me anything back! I wasn't eligible to make a claim on the PPI policy for most of the term as I wasn't working (due to having a young family) or worked very few hours.
The card ran from 1991 - 2005 and they have confirmed that PPI was attached to the account. I don't have any paperwork to support my claim but they have advised me to do a SAR and ask for statements and copy of the original agreement. What are the chances I will get the info I request?
Thanks for any help0 -
What a nice surprise we had today, wrote to Capital One back in 2010, claim was rejected:(.
Then in October this year they said they'd look at it again,
Today a letter back saying they had reviewed our case and offering just over £5,000 plus 8% interest :j:j:j:j:j
What a lovely early christmas present :TLight travels faster than sound - that's why you can see someone who looks bright until they open their mouth.0 -

My parents have had an incredible result! :T
They wrote to their local branch of LloydsTSB about a year ago asking which of their loans had PPI on them. The letter they received back said that none of their loans (by their records) had PPI. My parents knew that wasn't the case but didn't know about SAR's so thought that was the end of it. Then just over 2 months ago they received a letter from LloydsTSB saying it was possible they had been mis-sold PPI on a few loans so they should fill in the questionnaires.
This past week 2 letters have arrived detailing the bank's decisions. The first letter was for my mum who had 5 loans and got back the following:
Loan 1 UPHELD £666.56
Loan 2 CLAIM EXCEEDS REDRESS £564.52
Loan 3 UPHELD £1,346.04
Loan 4 UPHELD £252.72
Loan 5 NO PPI (BUT REFINANCED LOAN WITH PPI) £1,197.76
We are assuming they were upheld because she worked less than 16 hours per week, they were all single premium and possibly more than one was used to refinance previous loans. And as my mum is a non-taxpayer she will be able to claim back an extra £281.23
The second letter was for both of them as they were joint loans and they got back the following:
Loan 1 UPHELD £3,484.01
Loan 2 UPHELD £6,344.43
Loan 3 UPHELD £4,778.91
Loan 4 UPHELD £6,724.78
Loan 5 NO PPI (BUT REFINANCED LOAN WITH PPI) £504.64
Loan 6 UPHELD £1,293.51
Loan 7 UPHELD £2,056.82
Loan 8 UPHELD £3,514.51
Loan 9 UPHELD £1,110.76
Again, many of these loans were refinanced single premium loans and three of the loans were ones they didn't even complain about because they didn't know of their existence.
In total they've received back £34,121.20!!!!
To say they are chuffed is an understatement. My dad is five years from retiring so this has come at a really good time for them. :j:j:j0
