Will they try and offer me less than they are worth because I dont know the amounts? Or will they just pay the full amount.
If your complaint was upheld, they offer you exactly what you're entitled to.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Just wanted to tell someone. I originally tried to reclaim my PPI in 2007 using the letters on this site but was told I was unsuccessful in my claim. This was with Paragon Finance/DR Capital.
Then probably a couple of months ago I received a letter effectively asking me if I wanted the case to be 're-examined; obviously I replied stating that I did. Everything has been quiet for a while, after receiving a letter confirming they would 're-investigate.
Tonight I received a letter confirming that the believed the origins decision was wrong and they would uphold my complaint. They also made me an offer... a whooping £17,000
WOOHOO....
I can't believe it. This is amazing, I was trembling, actually trembling as I was telling the OH. He can't believe it either but we are both so pleased, this takes about 2 years off our debt free plan and we might actually be there by the end of next year now0 -

She complained and recieved forms to fill in. After I had scanned through this site we decided to submit a SAR before filling the forms in they replied that all that was neeeded to complain was the account numbers, I was in the process of resubmiting the SAR request when A load of money landed in my wifes account marked "PPI+interest refund" . Has anyone experienced this. If something is too good to be true it usually is.
Well we got the covering letters today for the £21k that had landed in the bank account. Mrs Lancelot is absolutely thrilled.
A couple of points I would like to share.
We had absolutely no statements from the loans or loan account numbers but my wife has her current account with Barclays
In the letter Barclays have stated that although they are required to keep records for six years however in most cases they have records as far back as 2001. Seems like a bit of an own goal admitting that.
Finally thanks to everyone on this site who has shared there experiences, also a special thanks to whoever it was who provided the SAR template letter
Good luck all.0 -
After months of gently nudging my OH to try and claim back PPI he finally did it. We were away on honeymoon and when we got back we had several confusing letters all contradicting each other/asking for more info and then a final letter...... offering £700 in total :-) in reality it should probably be more but we don't have any documents to back it up and properly work it out and I don't think I could persuade my OH to push on it so we have accepted :-) great thing to come back to! Thank you MSERecently married and loving it x0

Have just had my first success reclaiming a real old PPI from First Plus Group (who are now part of Barclays). I have been meaning to do it for years but was put off as the loan was over 10 years old and had no paperwork at all.
I was tempted by companies to do this work for you but after reading loads of threads on MSE decided in for a penny in for a pound.
Used the letter templates as they were great and managed to get the original loan paperwork from First Plus. Sent in the forms as you've outlined and yesterday was notified that :- my claim was upheld and they were gonna post me a cheque for a cool £14,800 - happy days!! :T
I would not have done this without you - many thanks.
Got another one going on with HSBC on a loan back in 2001 - thats with the Ombudsman currently. Cheers.:beer:0
