PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hello all,
I had a store card with house of Fraser from 2000-2004 when I was a student/ agency temp and paid PPI on it from Feb 2001 until I closed the account. I think I paid around £1,000 for PPI.
Santander are now in charge claims. I lost the original T&C's info from House of Fraser but found a couple of old statements to prove the account and PPI (as it was so old). I thought I had a claim because I was only a temp on a weekly wage when it was taken out and before that I was a student up until 7 months previous to taking out the PPI and then I went travelling 3 months after this. Today they refused my claim with a standard fob off letter.
Does anyone happen to know if I have grounds for a claim due to being temporarily employed at the time? Is it worth asking them if they have the originally terms of the insurance?
I've had a look at santanders current PPI terms and they do not cover temporary workers....
Thanks for any guidance!!!

I haven't seen one uphold by Santander for a store card sold prior to regulationa s your was.
Once you have the rejection from santander, you find out who the insurer was and you complain to them. There's a chance there was a direct link betwene the insurer and the store card, there is also a chance there wasn't. You'll have to find out.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

What reasons did they give for rejection?
You appear to want to research your complaint after you've already had the "full and final" rejection. If you remain dissatisfied with their response, the next stage of your complaint is to refer it to the Ombudsman.
Since Santander did not sell you this insurance, it's pointless looking at their current terms.
Thanks for your advice. The reasons were that they did not make an 'advised sale' and therefore they didn't need to inform me that other options were available etc.and that I could have cancelled at any time, and that I was working more than 16 hours a week at the time. I don't think they know whether the original terms covered temporary workers.
I was just checking th current Santander policy for reference.
They have now referred me to the Finance and Leasing Association, do you think it's worth going through them or straight to ombudsman?
They don't make any reference to not being regulated at this time.0 -

Ps. This was a hard sell on a cold call so they most definitely did give 'advice'

Just an update!
In August 2012 I submitted the following PPI claims:
MBNA-Upheld -Cheque Sept 2012
Cap One - Upheld -Cheque Dec 2012
Morgan Stanley (Barclaycard) sent to FO-Gesture of goodwill paymnet (but this was all PPI repaid) -Cheque Sept 2013
Goldfish (Barclaycard) - struggled with this, but finally upheld after resubmitting-cheque received Oct 2013.
Nat West - rejected - sent to FO in Oct 2012, letter received to say subject to further information being supplied by NW (they have until 05.11.13) they are recommending my compaint to be upheld.Whilst I am fully aware that this is by no means completed and that this decision may still be reversed, I am very happy with the way this has been dealt with. I would reiterate to anyone submitting PPI claims..do not use a claims company. Be patient! you are not guaranteed overnight success and make sure you are in it for the long haul if needs be...at the end of the day what have you to lose (apart from the cost of a stamp! )Debt at Sept 2006 £63,500:eek:
Debt at Sept 2012 £24,400
DFD Dec 2012! (if PPI claims come in) !!

Hi Guys, apologies if I am the wrong thread, My wife recieved a letter from Barclays saying that she had PPI on a loan during the period when PPI was missold. She complained and recieved forms to fill in. After I had scanned through this site we decided to submit a SAR before filling the forms in they replied that all that was neeeded to complain was the account numbers, I was in the process of resubmiting the SAR request when A load of money landed in my wifes account marked "PPI+interest refund" . Has anyone experienced this. If something is too good to be true it usually is.0

Evening All
I've only just joined the forum tonight to hopefully seek some advice on claiming for PPI. Any help is very greatly appreciated, i am new to this and just req a few answers if anyone can help, here goes :-
1- I've had numerous loans/credit cards over the years probably spanning back to 1990 ish, some of them i cant remember! (young days)-some loans quite large!, how long can you go back and how can i find out who with, amounts etc ?
2- From what i can remember i don't think that i took out any PPI on any card/loan as i have always been in continuous employment so is it worth trying??
3-My partner has simply phoned some of her passed lenders/banks etc and they basically said she wasn't entitled to anything? which kinda sounds a tad closed book.
I really want to start the ball rolling on this and reading a few snippets on here it has spurred me on to join the people power:j
Once Again thanks for reading and hope you can help....:beer:0
