  • Hi all, after excellent advice on here I pursued my PPI claim after the 1st "on your bike letter".
I sent the 2nd letter which I had a response to within 7 days with a goodwill gesture of £349.50 I have worked out that I have paid £597.50 in PPI charges.
Do I take the money and run or push for the full amount, any ideas how long it would take to settle?
Any help would be gladly appreciated as I'm in two minds what to do.
    Thanks Em

    Emla,

It would depend on your situation, if that would of use now it is 60% of your payments. so you could accept and be done with it.

If you arent too fussed at the moment then argue it and see what they come out with. (be prepared for it to take a while though)

Many thanks to all at moneysavingexpert and all on the forums for their advice on reclaiming Ppi.
I have been refunded £1314.86 from Egg after being mis-sold ppi on a loan in 2005.
After my initial complaint to them, they tried to fob me off by saying I made the ppi agreement online (which was a blatant lie).
I sent them another letter putting them straight about all the details and they then admitted I had been mis-sold.
From the first letter I sent until I received a cheque took about three months in total.
My advice to anyone trying to reclaim would be don't give up, they'll probably try to put you off at first but just keep going if you think you have a valid claim.

Well done and thanks for given everyone the encouragment to fight on.
It just goes to show you CAN win in the end

    Enjoy your win:j:j:j

Just wanted to say thanks to Martin & this website. I got just short of £7000 back from sending 2 letters

    Reclaimed for two loans
Loans were with HSBC & M&S
    I got £5000 back from HSBC & £2000 back from M&S
I got offered the above settlement after the 1st letter on both occasions. I couldnt believe it!

Just working out my numbers it would appear that hsbc will be paying all the premiums i paid and then refunding any early repayment charges i paid. As the 2nd loan only lasted 7 months before i refinanced it the £4764 figure looks pretty good now.I know that if i go down the legal route i could Possibly get more but wondering wether im better taking this and running. It hasnt been dressed up as a goodwill payment and they havnt denied responsibility. What ya think?

    Hi hun

This would depend what the whole difference would be in my opinion, if there was a lot more which makes a huge difference, I would try to go for the whole lot of it.;)

Hey there! I'm trying to claim ppi back of HSBC for my boyfriend at the moment. no news as yet they keep sending holding responses (at least better than cap1 who just sent nasty reply - so sent a really nasty letter back!) I'm so happy that you were successful - and with relative ease!

Could I ask you a few questions? Is your loan still current? and if so, did they just take the ppi off or did they set you up a new loan? and was the amount they offered what you were owed or a settlement?

Its so encouraging to see your results!:j

    Hi there

If they keep holding back and if the 8 weeks have gone by, you can if you want to take your complaint to the FOS.
Its entirely up to you, but hope you hear soon with some good news.;)
