PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

After a couple of letters we got a cheque through the post for £965, which obviously we are over the moon about as that goes straight towards savings for travelling.
As my partner paid off the loan in March 2008 in order to get a mortgage I want to check if we got anywhere near the correct amount. I need to factor interest in I would of thought so does anyone know an easy way to calculate the figure?
Also, has anyone been successful in reclaiming PPI on an EGG credit card or any credit card for that matter? EGG won't play ball as they say my partner ticked the box for PPI, but I still think that she was not fully aware of what taking out PPI really meant.
Is it worth pursuing to the FOS?
Hi there
Sorry I am not good with working out calcs, but I am sure someone on here will be happy to check them for you.
But meanwhile here is a link here of a thread posted by Maxdp about how to work out calculations:

Hope this helps.
And yes there have been success with EGG, some still also battling, but if they do not resolve this in your favour by the final response, go to the FOS.
Keep on at them.
I take it you received the final response from EGG?The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Yes I received the 'if you want to take it to FOS then you are free to do so' letter.
Think I may have one more go then.0 -

Good for you, don't let them get away with it.:T
I expect you may know how this works with the FOS, but anyway, you can either ring them for them to send you the form through the post, or download one from the FOS Website, remember to enclose a copy of EGG's final response, good luck.;)

Thanks guys, I shall keep you in the loop and no doubt will be asking questions when they arise.0

Question already
If we complain to the FOS, does it go on any credit rating or financial history for my partern if it is unsuccessful?
Probably stupid question but going to ask it anyway!0 -

No not if it was their mistake. If you stopped paying it or got behind then that would be a different story.:mad:0 -
Hi All,
Having taken out a loan with ABBEY in March 2006, I recently sent off Matins 1st letter requesting a repayment of all PPI charges + interest to date. (23rd March 2009). I didnt think I would hear back from them, let alone get a response..... However a week later the sent me a short questionnaire to fill out, which I did. To my surprise yesterday (14th April 2009) I recieved a formal letter from their complaints department, saying they have looked into my loan agreement, and were unable to see whether my PPI was sold correctly or not!!!! Running my eyes through the rest of the letter I was shocked to see they had offered me £3219.00 :j Can you believe it...as simple as that!
So I would just like to 'thank' all the people who had left previous reviews, telling me to apply as I had nothing to loose....
If anyone is out there reading this, then good luck. I hope your outcome is as happy as mine.:rotfl:0 -

I took out an £11,000 loan over 7 years in May 2003 with Abbey. I printed off the template letter from the Which website (sorry MSE!). Abbey replied with a letter and a questionnaire they wanted me to fill in, this was a week or so ago now. After reading some posts from the members of this forum, I was going to write them a letter saying I wasn't answering their questions. But, today I got another letter offering a settlement of over £3,000. Result!0
