  • Hi, just wanted to get my story out to others, around January 2008 I started reading Martin Lewis website and read about PPIs. My partner and I had taken a secure loan with first plus in 2003 and as we were desperate for the money did accepted that PPi was part of this, we then took a further loan out and again this was done. As we were really struggling financially we got a financial adviser to look at our finances and at this point he suggested that we challenge first plus and questioned the ridiculous amount we had paid, around £16,000!!!
This and Martin Lewis spurred us on to challenge first plus however we got the smarmiest complaints officer who patronised us and said that we knew what we were getting into as they had recorded the second loan transaction. Bearing in mind we were borrowing thousands of pounds this was all done by phone and cheques were with us with a week or so. Anyway, we took this to omubudsman and after waiting around a year for it to be allocated they adjudicated in our favour, sending a scathing assessment of first plus's practice. We received a letter on 16 March advising that if we had not heard anything from first plus within 6 weeks we should go back to them. I have heard nothing from them and have had to maintain weekly contact with them, today's conversation advised that they were still not in a position to give a date for the cheque to be sent as they were very busy with similar issues i.e. folk getting their hard earned cash back. I advised that i found this ironic given the speed that loans were issued however they assured me that they werent taking things to the wire and they were genuinely busy, very good...
Anyway, come next monday (last day of 6 week period) my partner and I should be £14,500 better off!!
Please tell your friends and family to challenge these banks as this money can mean so much to average folk who have had their money taken by unscrupulous financial loan sharks.
  • I first saw martins article on his website in early december 2008. I dug out 2 old loan agreements one with HFC and One with First direct both had been paid off. The total of the two loans was about 19k borrowed added to that was PPI plus interest. On December 13th I sent martins first letter and I got pushed around to several different departments. To cut a long story short they paid me back all the premiums paid plus 8% interest compounded since the loan was paid off. I do have all the paperwork and details if anyone is interested but HFC and First direct never denied liability and sent a letter of grovelling apology. Oh and £12,500 now safely in my bank account. Well done martin and dont give up. It took about four months and about 4 hours work so go for it.

another sucess story for us. I sent template letter for my oh to lloyds for mis-sold ppi, didnt know was optional, would not have been any use to him anyway!! They fobbed us off and told us not mis-sold and rejected the claim. I wrote back with some evidence of it being missold like I had origianally. Today my oh received letter that they will uphold complaint and very sorry for mis selling and will get full refund of premiums paid plus interest. This loan was settled a while ago so all funds coming to us!Thank you so much to all on the site who encourage you when you feel like giving up. This is our 4th success story to date. Total refunds comes to just over 5k
Good luck to all new claims, please dont give up we all deserve our money back, just a shame we have to fight for it like this!!!
yes you are right, this is our money and we should not have to fight to get it back :j:jwell done to you:money:

I agree amersall, even though I don't have any dealings with them, but its guaranteed someone posts up about these everyday on here, and in my opinion the most complained about as well.
    So happy for the winners......:T:j:j
