    Hi everyone

I was trying to reclaim from Welcome Finance. I wrote to them in February, they wrote back asking me to fill in a questionnaire which said things like: How did you become aware that you had a claim? When did you become aware? Why do you think you were missold the policy?

I answered that the sales rep had told me I had to have the policy or I wouldn't get the loan.

Last week I got a cheque for the full amount of the premium, plus the interest they had charged on the premium, plus 8% statutory interest. Welcome said they weren't admitting liability but as a gesture of goodwill they were refunding in full. In total I received £1200 and all before the 8 weeks was up! Thanks MSE because I got the template letter from the website!

To anyone who's thinking about trying to get a refund - do it! x

Hi all, like many on here, I have been lurking whilst waiting for an answer from HSBC about my loan PPI. Felt obliged to post now though to inform everyone that they have upheld my complaint.

My loan was taken out in 2004, and was to the tune of around 30k with 8k worth of PPI or thereabouts. I wrote one letter, got an initial 'we need more time' letter within 4 weeks and then this morning confirmation that they are refunding £4,794.62 plus £877.44 interest, totalling £5,672.06!! To say I am delighted would be an understatement!

The basis of my complaint was that they insisted on me taking the PPI and indicated that granting the credit would be dependent upon this fact.

I also have to point out that HSBC have been absolutely fantastic to deal with. They have responded promptly, they have been fair, an absolute joy to deal with. They are now restructuring the loan on the same interest and term but without PPI, which should lower the repayments by around £100 per month also.

Thanks to MSE (and my work for paying postage!) I am a very happy chappy!

    Cheers!!
    :j:j:beer: excellent well done:D:D

  • Less then two weeks ago, I complained to Alliance and Leicester about PPI insurance I had been sold for a loan in 2004 and when I refinanced in 2007. The reply I received from A&L was an offer in excess of £4,000.00. I have accepted.

I used some of the text from templates on this website. Proof positive that it really does work. My thanks to all concerned.
