PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

It was a loan taken out in 2008 - this is now closed around 2011 and settled as per the agreed payments/timescales.
Unfortunately I have not kept the paperwork.
I've stated the reasons as to why I have rejected the offer.
I'm not really serious about taking it to the FOS, as I really want to get this agreed without the need for protracted correspondence etc. Will the bank negotiate with me or will they stick to their original offer?
Not sure how far I can push it?0 -
Not serious about instructing a Solicitor.
I've read through the PPI info on the site just looking for general advice from people that have been through the process.
Should I just accept their offer or possibly apply for SAR to see how much I have paid previously?0 -
Well, there is no negotiating.
Without proof or at least an idea of how it was sold, without proof of what you paid, you don't really have an option but to accept.
Personally, I would have sent a SAR, then I would have checked how it was sold, how much I'd paid, and judged what my chances were. Then I would have forwarded my complaint to the FOS if it were rejected on the grounds that I know my own circumstances.
Without knowing yours, or your situation, you will have to make your own mind up.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Hiya, I recently wrote on here that the F.O.S had over-ruled the Halifax's decision and that they had to pay us our ppi, the letter said that the Halifax should send us an offer within 8 weeks, well 11 weeks has been and gone and still no offer so I phoned last week and was told it was getting dealt with, how long do the Halifax take and how long should I wait till I phone them again.. many thanks0

They say that 'as a gesture of goodwill' they will offer me just over £640.00 as a refund for the insurance premiums plus interest. I have written back rejecting their offer and stating that I will accept £3500 to make the claim go away. I have also said that if there is no satisfactory conclusion to this then I will make a formal complaint to the Ombudsman as well as instructing my Solicitors.
Out of interest do you think you paid more that £640 or do you think by complaining and rejecting the off they will pay you more?
like others have said do a SAR you will see what you have paid and that's the amount they will pay you back plus the 8% interest0 -
£652 from Rbs on ppi on credit card. Delighted0

euronorris wrote: »Well, after writing to Sainsbury's bank twice in the past asking for copies of my loan agreement etc, and being told they have no records for me, I tried again earlier this year. Miraculously, this time I received the docs, reviewed them, as suspected PPI was there. Calculated that I should be owed around 4-500 quid, but wasn't certain.
So, I filled in a reclaim form and sent it off in May. Had a response about a week later to confirm receipt and that they would look into it and come back to me. Today I called to chase status and they confirmed that letter was issued on 6th July (so should be here this week) offering £804.74!!! Am over the moon and cannot wait for this letter to arrive! XD
Just goes to show that it's worth persevering with them!!
Just to update: The cheque has arrived in today's postSo, on this occasion at least, Bank of Scotland/Sainsbury's Bank have been very quick at making the payment.
February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

Still waiting for other claims
Thank you MSE & Martin0 -

I was working at home today when I got a call from sainsburys bank think it was bank of Scotland as I have claim in for my PPi on my card He started asking me questions and some I felt were trying to put words on my mouth I made it clear re my work package but did not feel I believed that he wrote what I said I Also made the offer if need me to get proof from work of my cover but he was not that bothered and it not require it
I did not have this with tesco or FD at all and was wondering did other people have this experience
I guess the thing that I really am not comfortable with is they write down whats said but their version when I tried to add in extra information or elaborate was not interested
If they reject this and they did not look at the additional info you gave, you can write back and let them know what you added after the phone call.0 -

Send a Sar request, ask for all financial info they hold on you, as you have already rejected the offer from the bank, you will have to see what a Sar throws up and take it from there.
As you repaid this loan to term, the offer is way below what you should be getting, as this was 2011 I don't understand why the bank cannot find this loan info.0
