I'd be grateful for some advice.
I have recieved a settlement from RBS after going through the Ombudsman as it was initially rejected.
I have had the Halifax credit card for eleven years with an average balance of approx £4000 which had PPI for all this time.
They have sent me a cheque for £1,300 with a breakdown consisting of two lines. I asked for a further breakdown which they have refused.
Am I right in thinking that this amount is wrong, I would be grateful for your comments.
    Thanks.

You need proof that you paid it, so you should have sent a SAR and £10 to see how much you did pay with statements. If they have destroyed records, they are only paying you form records they have left.

If you are disputing the amount, get back in touch with the FOS.

I went through the FOS so had no knowledge of sending a SAR.
I have now been back in touch with the FOS and they are going to call me back.
Is it worth sending a SAR now?
    Thanks for your advice.
  • Posted this elsewhere today but was wondering if anyone could offer any advice?

    Hello all,

I had a credit card with MBNA for some time. It looks like I will be getting back an amount (not yet disclosed) of PPI, mainly on the basis I have a pre-existing illness that stops me from being covered on most forms of insurance - even when I have gone to take life/sickness/critical illness cover I have had to pay more in premiums than my Wife to receive LESS cover.

    Anyway...

Had a card with MBNA, looks like I'll be getting some PPI back.

My question relates though to the fact that I had to pay back extra on the card for going over the limit. I went over the limit when MBNA lowered the limit to less than what I owed due to missing payments. Is it reasonable to argue that had I not had been charged PPI then I would have owed less / had more money to pay back the debt and therefore not had to pay as much back?

Is there any kind of case or precedent for this?

Thank for any help in advance.

  • Hi,

I had a loan with Alliance & Leicester a long time back.

In 2004 (ish) I received a letter and cheque through the post stating something along the lines of "we mis-sold you PPI (or some such) here is £999."

Does anyone know if A&L were just sending good will amounts and that there is a chance I haven't been given everything I was due or is it just coincidence that it came to a pound short of £1,000 - the sort of amount that would require higher sign off?

Was wondering if anyone knew of anything?

  • Hello all!

This is my first post on the site, ive been a long time "lurker" and have read posts often. I just wanted to say Thank You to all the posters who have encouraged and posted details of their experiences on here, and now I can happily share my own!

After putting it off for what now seems like ages, I eventually got round to attempting to reclaim PPI I have had on a personal loan since 2008.

The loan was with Halifax and after completing and sending the form provided on the website I didnt expect much. I had my confirmation letter within 7 days that they would look at my complaint.

I then had a phone call from the bank just asking a couple of extra bits of information, which I gave them, and then they said they would send their decision shortly. It will have been roughly 28 days since their initial response but I finally received a letter on Saturday with their decision.

They had upheld my complaint and were refunding £7,838!!!!

This pays off the outstanding amount left on my loan and still leaves me with near enough £3,000 to pay off a few other bits and pieces. Its like a huge weight off my shoulders.

Im so glad I finally got my act together and complained, its one of the best decisions ive ever made!

Long time lurker first time poster.
After years of head in the sand I am finally sorting out my financial life!
So I decided to see if I had ever been miss sold PPI.
Called NatWest on their PPI helpline (I have been with them for every single financial product since I went to Uni 22 years ago) and chatted to a very helpful lady who checked through every product that I have ever had.
Received a collection of letters stating that they were investigating each claim, various loans, overdraft and mortgages.
6 days later and the first letter offering £1954!! for a series of linked loan accounts came through the door. Gobsmacked. :D
Mortgage Due to Start April 2015 - £165,000
    Over payment Goal £3,000pa (£250/month)

Hi I'm looking for an address and phone number for black horse morgages. I have been pushed pillar to post today and I keep getting put forward to I'd black horse finances.

    It is a different company.

I can't find anywhere to send anything or information on black horse morgages. Do they have a site etc or anything. I really really appreciate the information.

    Thank you :)

Thank you -taff but I can't find anything there relating to what I was wondering - i.e. I had to pay back £300+ per month. I couldn't afford this. If I hadn't been charged PPI (unfairly) I would have only had to have paid £220+ which I could afford - I then got into financial difficulty with my bank PLUS had to pay MBNA more for not paying - their charging me PPI when they shouldn't meant I had to pay more to them and not just for the PPI.

Can I claim compensation for all the hell I had to deal with which would have been much easier had they not have been overcharging me?
