The link does explain that if you paid PPI and are refunded on a credit card, any associated interest added to your account caused by the PPI being charged will be refunded.

I doubt you can make a case for the PPI payments alone being responsible for you not paying your monthly amount. You can ask the FOS tot ake that into consideration, they can only say no.

Can I claim compensation for all the hell I had to deal with which would have been much easier had they not have been overcharging me?
Full redress for mis-sold PPI is defined as a refund of the payments together with associated interest and 8% simple interest. Even if successful, you will not receive any more than that.

I'd just like to let everyone know that I recieved a letter from the HSBC today pretty much eight weeks to the day after sending back their original questionaire. My complaint has been upheld, and I've been offered almost £7000! This is much more than I expected!

I've send the acceptance letter right back with recorded delivery. My only worry now is the taxman. I think I will owe about £440 from the taxable parts of my refund, but I'm very worried HMRC will only want to get this back by changing my tax code - on a normal year, I wouldn't mind this, but I'm being made redundant in December, so if I can't go straight into another job I'll end up not knowing where the heck I am with the PPI tax bill! Has anyone been allowed to pay upfront? I'd so much prefer to get it paid and over with, given my circumstances.

You can elect to do this.

Phew! That's a huge weight off my mind! Thanks for letting me know! I had visions of getting in a right mess! I'll call them as soon as I get my funds and get it sorted.

    Thank you! :)

I foolishly used a company to try and reclaim my PPI and because I have debts, the company told me today that the money will be taken by my creditors to pay towards my outstanding balance to them PLUS I have been charged £636 by the company in fees which I cannot pay - not a good result for me.

Not a good result for anyone other than your Claims Management Company.

Hopefully your experience will act as a warning to others...

Did the company know that you had debts to repay with any win you might get when you signed up with them? if the company did not mention that you will have a debt to them if you win, the company should not have taken you on, I think that you have no choice to pay this so write to the company, give them an income and expenditure and offer what you can afford for this debt each week or month.

If the company did not explain that you may not get redress to you but you will still have a bill to pay for their services, put a complaint in writing to them.
  • I have been trying without success to get refund on my PPI from Barclays.
They agree i had PPI on my credit card, but inform me without any evidence that it WASn't mis-sold.
As i say they i have provided NO, zero, zip evidence to back up sale, they just keep saying it wasn't mis-sold.
I was both self employed and had several pre exiting medical conditions that would have prevented claim.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appriciated:j

It's up to you to provide the evidence it was missold since you are the one saying there was a problem. It isn't a refund, you are complaining there was a problem with the sale.
If they have rejected you, your next step is the FOS.
