  • Any advice greatly appreciated - I was approved for a PPI refund from Canada Square Operations for an Egg loan that I had. I signed the agreement on the amount and had to provide evidence of my address. I then got a letter saying they'd received it all and that my cheque would be released within 20 working days. That was the 7th December and since then I've received nothing. I'vev written them 2 letters since, asking what's happened but have literally had no contact whatsoever. There's only a PO Box address on the letter and no phone numer or email contact. I don't know what to do now!
  • Hi
Barclaycard were very efficient in dealing with my PPI claim. I claimed c£500 and got £2700 as I didn't have all the backdated records.

HOWEVER, RBS are refusing point blank saying 'PPI was not missold'. Have sent everything to the FSO and will wait. Does anyone have a similar story with RBS. Are they just buying time or can they really discount my claim when I enclosed copy statements showing PPI paid.

    Any responses appreciated

Proof of PPI paid is not proof that it was mis-sold to you, I'm afraid.
You don't "claim" for a specific amount of money-you complain because the PPI was mis-sold.
What complaint reasons did you give?
  • I'd been 'contemplating' reclaiming my PPI for at least 2 years, and finally sent off the claim form (template from Moneysavingexpert) on 9th Jan. Got a letter back from Barclaycard yesterday, dated 29th Jan, to advise that they were in agreement with my claim, and they will be sending me £4,574.17 within the next 4 weeks! Amazing!

Thank you so much! To anyone else out there dragging their feet; just do it! :j
  • After looking at MSE, I downloaded the claims form and filled in all the information I could for 5 separate accounts where I believed I'd been misold PPI.

I sent them all off with proof of postage in the middle of January, and last night I received an offer from one of the organisations (Co-Op), offering £4,700!!!

am very happy with this - didn't take a huge amount of effort and thanks to the great advice on MSE, I didn't have to pay commission either.

My advice is to try and see, and do it off your own back, it really does make you feel vindicated when you get a positive response!
  • My parents have been claiming on PPI's that have shown up on loans etc with different companies using the template from this site. My mum got a letter from M&S on two loans, one they said didn't count but the other she was reimbursed £7200!! Needless to say my parents were ecstatic as they didn't expect so much plus they have a few more to come back so fingers crossed.
  • I have two different responses from lenders re claiming back PPI. Firstly I have had a very poor response from my bank (Lloyds TSB) where I have been a customer for over 50 years. They seem to respond in riddles and I have now put my case with the FSO.

A total different response was from Marks and Spencers bank which responsed to my query (using your guidelines) over PPI within 3 weeks offering me a refund of over £10,000. This was for loans taken out in the late 80s to early 2000.

My rational for the mis selling was the same in both cases so do not understand the different responses.

Every case is dealt with on it's own merits (or lack of them), so it's unwise to compare the results of different complaints.
Your "rationale" might have been the same, but the two lenders concerned are not.

What were your complaint reasons and was it CCs or loans with Lloyds?
  • I didn't have any recollection of being sold the PPI, I think the box was pre-populated on the form. I completed the form in exactly the same way for Barclaycard and they didn't question and just paid up, so not very impressed with RBS. My gut feeling is RBS are not paying up as we no longer use their credit card, however, we still use the Barclaycard.

Has anyone had a similar problem? I note that 88% of Ombudsmans claims in in favour of the client, so heres hoping!

Many thanks for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated.:)
