  • Just one phone call to lloyds about ppi on a loan I had with them, several weeks later an offer of £2000,my biggest lever was that I have worked for the NHS for 31yrs,and get 6 months full sick pay and 6 months half pay, death in service (lump sum payable to spouse). If I was to be made redundent i would recieve 2 years wages.Lloyds had nothing to say after I told them that, why on earth would I knowingly pay for ppi when I have all these benefits.:T
  • I received a PPI offer which I have accepted from HSBC. I still have a debt in management through a third party which is held by Metropolitan Collections which the PPI relates to, as I understand this is owned by HSBC. Do they have any rights to take this payment in full to offset the debt.
  • Looks like Lioyds has made a few people smile today!!! Thanks moneyineptitude maths is not my strong point!!! The money was front loaded so interest throughout the loan......can you please help me calculate this???

Yes, especially as Metropolitan is intrinsically linked to HSBC.
    Here are the offsetting rules

However, you may be lucky and they don't off set. Wait and see.

Having a clear-out can be very cost-effective! While 'spring cleaning' our paperwork filing cabinet just before Christmas, I came across a loan agreement from several years ago, taken out with Black Horse and spotted a PPI element to the loan. As my DH was self-employed and we had good alternative cover at the time, we thought we might have a case for mis-selling. One phone call and a completed complaints form later and we were proved right. This morning, around five weeks from our first contact with BH, we received an offer for just over £4000!

Just a quick query. On the calc sheet it has the amount of tax deducted then the offer after tax. Do I get the amount with the tax included so I have to pay the tax to HMRC or do my bank pay the tax?

    Cheers.
You will get the offer amount after tax, they have taken it at source so you do not have to contact HMRC, unless you are a non taxpayer, then you need to get it back from HMRC.
  • Thankyou Moneyineptitude. Hopefully I will be lucky as going into a different unconnected bank.

    Lender: Barclaycard

    Settlement: £7k

Tale: Claimed in Autumn 2011 on all my cards, and only Barclaycard refused. Complained to their Chief Exec and heard nothing again until October 2012, when they offered me 7k out of the blue.

After a few tales of lost letters they finally paid me last week. Very pleased to get money from them. Will be unsecured debt free by end of 2013.

All in all since Nov 2011 I've received just under 30k in ppi refunds. It has changed my life, and the folk on this forum were largely responsible.

    Thank you all

Had always been meaning to reclaim for months but just never had the time to sit with OH properly and sort it out. We had a phone call from one of the companys that can help claim it back. OH gave them our details and they typed it all up and sent it to OH to sign. We stopped short at this in the end and set aside an evening to do it. We printed off the forms on here but as there had been a couple of loans in the distant past we weren't sure whether to send all the info at once. We had paperwork for two, which had been joined together, iyswim, but no info for the other 2. I went on the Natwest home page and it gave a telephone helpline number to ring. Last Monday OH rang them up. Gave them the details we had and the guy who he spoke to looked there and then. Was very helpful and could find some info on the more recent but not from the others. We had a letter a couple of days later acknowledging the phone call and this morning a letter arrived with an offer just short of £5,000. It was the amount OH had roughly worked out it should be but what a surprise!!!!!
We obviously need to do a bit more regarding the other 2 loans, Natwest said that on one we didn't have PPI and he couldn't find the details for the other but just at this moment we're so pleased with everything going so smoothly!
We really are those kind of people who think 'what's the point, we never have any luck with anything etc etc' but this shows you never know unless you try. In the end we didn't need to send any papers off to the bank. It all took a 5 minute phone call and virtually a week from start to finish!
Don't put it off, just do it.
Sorry for the epic post but hope it nudges people in the right direction.
    A MASSIVE thanks to Martin.

  • Hi All
i have recently had my lloyds credit card upheld by the fos. Lloyds have until 19th Feb to reply. My question is that i took ppi out in 2002 and probably cancelled it in 2006. The account was closed in 2010 and the outstanding balance of £10000 is now with another debt company. I have no statements going back to 2006 and before so does that mean even tho my case has been upheld that i will not receive anything ? As the banks do not hold statements over 6 years. Any advice or knowledge of how this works will be much appreciated
    Thanksr
