Thanks.
Same mis-sell reason for all, local government employee, didn't need the benefits offered, and wouldn't have taken it had I known.
Wasn't expecting anything from Barclaycard, their refusal in late 2011 was final. Sent off a complaint to their CEO at the time to vent my spleen and then out of the blue got an offer. I used all the monies received to clear debt, so delighted.0 -
You will get the offer amount after tax, they have taken it at source so you do not have to contact HMRC, unless you are a non taxpayer, then you need to get it back from HMRC.
Many thanks. I did subsequently learn that my bank is apparently one of two that pay the tax for me. Other banks apparently send the full amount and I would have to pay the tax direct to HMRC. The latter will be the case in the other PPI case I am doing at the moment.0 -
I used to jump cards quite often and move balances to the next 0% offers. Now I have one that is cleared.
I have had a total of 14 cards to contact.
Egg (Canada Square Operations) got me started with a cheque over £900.
Others are investigating, some need more info.
BUT,
1. HFC want £10 plus proof of ID before proceeding further. I need the account details.
2. Capital One send me a book saying that I was not mis-sold as I ticked the box online for PPI. Despite my pre-exisitng condition that was not asked about and being under the impression since cards came out that if you stated no you would not get the card.
They go on about cooling off periods and all the T&C's that are sent with the card. No mention of it being microscopic though.
3. NatWest replied via my current card and not card I previously held with them in the past.
Anyone have any ideas how to proceed with Capital One and HFC.0 -
Hi all
Right where to start, after reading all about PPI I was always aware of being missold a loan in the 90s with Lloyds TSB, after investigating this further I found that Lloyds admitted to selling me 4 loans with PPI from 1993, 1998, 1999, 2003, for a total of £27000.
Fabulouse I thought, immediately writing to them to try recoup my missold PPI. I received a letter from Lloyds denying any misselling, so I decided to get help from FOS in August 2012.
This week I received a letter from FOS stating " I am please to let you know that Lloyds TSB has told us that it would like to make an offer AS A GESTURE OF GOODWILL OFFER, WITH NO ADMISSION OF LIABILITY, to settle your complaint."
Is this standard reply to all claims, or is Lloyds trying to offer me a reduced sum????
The letter from FOS also stated that Lloyds will be writing to me with their offer.
With FOS putting in all the jargon about if the PPI was settled early or ran it full term etc etc....
Well I had 4 loans 1991-1995 for £3000 ran full term 36 month
1993-1998 for £8200 ran full term 60 month
1996-1998 for £5000 ran full term 18 month
1998-2003 for £13,500 ran full term 60 month
From some of the research ive done, not 100% sure what Loyds liability would be for calculating the interest they would pay on the loans, whould the PPI compensation be from when the loan was taken out to the present day?
Thanks for any advice & help.

The Bank are doing this because it is probably cheaper to pay up than to pay the Ombudsman fees.
If you like the offer amount (when it comes) accept. If you don't like it, continue with you FOS referral.
There is no guarantee FOS will eventually uphold your complaint, of course.0 -
Hi
Really need some advice here...
I received a letter from Egg card (now Canada square operations) to say I may be entitled to reclaim PPI, I sent the letter back to them stating my reasons I felt I was mis sold insurance at the time. I took the card out approx 2004/2005 and paid it off and closed the account in 2006 when i moved house prior to closing the account I had 3,000 on the card. I have just received a letter from Egg (Canada square operations) saying the following:
' we have completed our investigation, our findings are set out below. I am pleased to inform you that your complaint has been upheld. Consequently, we will be refunding you all premiums charged to your account, together with associated interest. In addition, interest at the rate of 8% has also been calculated on any amount where your balance would have been in credit had the CRP premium not been charged to your account.
The total amount we will pay you is broken down as follows:
CRP premiums paid £29.26
Refund if interest on premiums paid at contractual interest rate £6.39
Interest at the rate of 8% as detailed above. £16.16
Total refund due £51.81
This letter represents our final response and your complaint will now be closed. Should you wish to accept our offer please do so by returning the signed acceptance form.
Alternatively you have six months from the date of this letter to exercise your right to refer your complaint to the financial ombudsman service '
in which case they can no longer discuss my complaint directly with me.
Not wishing to be greedy but it seems this amount is low considering the amount I had on the card, but I do not have any paperwork as the account was closed in 2006. Should I be thankful for what I have been offered (which I am really) ? Is there any point in going to the financial ombudsman as they have upheld my complaint anyway?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks :huh:0 -
You should have sent a SAR to start with so you'd have a record of the charges.
You can dispute this, but now your choices are to write back and dispute the amount, send a SAR to see how much you did pay, write back and dispute it with evidence, or then go to the Obudsman.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Send a SAR and £10 to HFC, depending on when the card was closed, there may not be much info left
Ask Natwest to look at the right account.
Capital One are right, you missbought rather than were missold, and they have the lowest overturn rate because of this. It was up to you to check the policy was suitable for you, not them, and I have no doubt the terms and conditions attached to the PPI were available on the site when you applied for it.
You can ask them to reconsider based on your medical history, and after that take it to the Ombudsman, but the chance of success there are slim, so don't get your hopes upNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
I just wanted to make a quick post about my success in claiming back some ppi from Capital One from a credit card I took out with them in 2001.
After following the advice from this site, I asked for my credit agreement which Capital One sent. I had opted for PPI, however I had since realised (again, with advice from this site) that the policy was useless to me because in 2001 I was only working part time because my son was little. I would not have been able to claim on the policy had I needed to. I sent off the standard letter from here and got a reply back last week with an offer of just over £200. I have accepted the offer because I didn't do the SAR so I don't actually know what I paid. However I didn't owe very much on the card so I think this is about right. I'm very pleased. Thank you MSE :T0
