Barclays dealt with my complaint in a fairly speedy & professional manner. I sent them my complaint form (MSE Template) & had an acknowledgement within days, promising an update or response within eight weeks. Seven weeks after they received my complaint & copy agreement, I received an apology & a cheque.

No calls or letters or any other chasing required in between. Cheque enclosed with 'letter of decision' so no waiting for that either. I accept that not everyone gets such a speedy resolution but thought it only fair to report the positive stuff as well as the negative stuff....

Hi, I am really pleased that some go well and well done on your success, i think I have had everyone's share of bad luck with Barclays :rotfl:. I have been promised a decision by this Friday (30th), not holding my breath though.....

I have my fingers firmly crossed for you ..... stay positive..... to be honest I was prepared for a knockback, even though I knew I had valid reasons for my complaint, (we just expect these huge organisations to try and wriggle off the hook) so my letter of apology & cheque, and its very quick arrival - 7 weeks start to finish -was a massive surprise...

    Hi

After being with the FOS for over 2 years.

The FOS agreed my complaint a credit card and Flexi Loan should be upheld.

I received a letter friday giving me a figure for the credit card but no mention of the flexi loan..

Does anyone know if HSBC deal with each one separate as all there letters up the involvement of FOS referred to both. Im wary about sending it back incase they say its for both depsite there being only a reference to the credit card PPI.

I have tried to call but due to the account being closed since 2005 they can not give me any details..

    Any help appreicated
If there is only the Credit card account on the letter then the offer is for that, you should get a letter regarding the Flexi loan.
  • I paid off a Topshop store card about 4 years ago. I have sent 3 letters by recorded del now to Santander Store Cards as well as the Santander Head Office - still nothing back. This has been since the beginning of September so shall I refer this to the FOS now? Any help much appreciated
  • I took out a loan in 2005 at the branch face to face. The advisor spoke repeatedly about ppi and gave me examples of people having there loans rejected by not taking ppi out. She also stated that the ppi works alongside the loan. The Loan was to buy a second hand car and consolidate my cc which was £4k to get the cheaper interest.I did say that I have family and friends if the worse case scenario was to happen but she said that would not be good enough.I was in full time employment and entitled to 6 months full pay, I had a bit in my savings account too. So I would have been able to pay it back through the savings if my sickness lasted more than 6 months or if I got dismissed from work. In the case of redudancy I would have got a payout. She never asked me about pre- existing medical conditions. If she had I would have advised that I do suffer from back problems and also depression. Which i now know i wouldnt be covered for. Even when i was off work had i not been on full pay i would not have been able to claim. I've received a response today stating that they have rejected my claim as I signed a DNR form. All I said on my questionnaire was it was a hard sell. The DNR for states that the insurance was recommended to me by the advisor, and in the boxes the advisor has ticked everything in the no/ don't know boxes with regards to pre-existing cover i.e illness, employment cover etc. Please help.
  • Write back to them saying everything you said here. If you still get no joy, take it straight to the ombudsman.

Nothing you have said indicates much of a mis-sale unfortunately. If you remain dissatisfied with the Bank's response refer your complaint to FOS.

This would be a waste of time unless "Opinions Needed" was able to add significant new evidence in support of his complaint.

Thank you. The bank have issued a final response. Is it still worth writing back?

No, the next stage of your complaint is to refer it to FOS:

All I have stated in the questionnaire is that it was a hard sell face to face. I haven't advised of anything else i.e back problems, my saving. All hsbc have said is they are rejecting my complaint because I signed the form. They didn't even acknowledge the fact I didn't need it. So they haven't dealt with my complaint fairly as they havent addressed the issues of hard sell. There is definitley more evidence i didnt need it than needing it. They have only gave me a fact that I have signed. What they are failing to understand is the pressure I was put under to sign and the worry the advisor embedded in me. I trusted her as this is her as she is the bank. She has basically lied and convinced me to buy this even after i told her it's not for me. Under pressure I signed.
