I advised you to go to FOS, but you want me to "support" you in writing back to the Bank to challenge their rejection?
I don't think "supporting" you in this is very constructive. Read the correct next complaint stage.
If you write back to the Bank you'll just delay joining the queue at FOS.
Sorry what??? When have I mentioned I want you to "support" me in writing to the bank. I would just like to hear from others who have been in my position to see what there outcomes were and how they challenged them.
Thank you anyway. I came to this forum for support and encouragement not to be put off. Feel worse than I did when I got my rejection letter.0 -

Unfortunately, for reasons I've been very specific about already, I don't feel you have a very strong case and I think writing back to the Bank will just result in a reiteration of the rejection you've already received.
For the final time, refer your case to FOS:

It's because the Banks don't actually detail why they uphold a given complaint. The Banks often find other faults not detailed in the original complaint or they may sometimes even decide to pay out without investigating at all (auto payout). As a result, many people who have written a complaint based on "hearsay" can be fooled into thinking their complaint has been upheld on that basis when it was something entirely different.
The only way to be certain of (eventual) success is to have valid and verifiable complaint reasons.
Actually, in my case, (and possibly many others), the Bank did actually detail why they upheld my complaint (and it was one of several reasons I put to them for believing I was mis-sold the policy). They stated "Having considered your complaint, I am not satisfied the the PPI policy sold was suitable for your needs. As a result I am upholding your complaint".
Now all three of the complaints against three different banks /companies I raised were regarding PPI on loans taken out in the 1990's (way before the changes in 2005). In all three cases the PPI was frontloaded as a lump sum, the company charged us interest on the capital sum and the money they were 'loaning' us for the PPI, and the forms came with all the information and ticks already on them and a request we sign and return them immediately. In all three complaints I also stated that my late husband and I were both adequately covered for sickness and redundancy with our respective employers and therefore had no need for PPI, but were so desperate for the money we just did as we were told and signed and returned the agreements.
Barclays have upheld my complaint, Paragon Finance have not. Lombard require more 'evidence' or the complaint will be closed down. So Pete-2244 is correct when he says that the lack of consistency is troubling.... Paragon told me my loan was taken out 'within a non-regulated environment' and as such they will not entertain my complaint. My loan with Barclays was taken out during the same period of time yet it didn't stop Barclays upholding my complaint.
These companies just please themselves, so yes, 'Opinions needed', take it further, take it as far as you possibly can because, to me, a lot of the decisions come down to luck in the end. You have nothing to lose and if you remain open-minded about how it will go, then you won't be massively disappointed if it fails. But don't be put off by anyone telling you that you've basically no chance.....0 -

I already have. I was only going to write back to the bank as someone mentioned it earlier.0 -

Thank you. That's a very encouraging to hear. I won't give up. These are words of true of encouragement. I will definitley remain open minded. I will start putting all my evidence together and sent it back to FOS. Good luck with your claims.0 -

Detailing would involve a point-by-point explanation of exactly how the PPI was not suitable for you. Clearly, the Bank did not do this in the reply you quoted but only spoke in general terms.
The Banks send form letters for both rejections and successes. The rejections are copy and pasted generic responses to every conceivable complaint reason, the successes are similarly replied to.0 -

So basically the last ten or twelve posts have been futile.
I still say you have a weak complaint, unfortunately FOS will now take up to eighteen months to prove or disprove what I've said.0 -
