PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

So chuffed I had to join the forum to post!
Decided at the beginning of the month to give it a shot, I knew I had PPI for a time on a MBNA virgin credit card so I called them up to ask and a recieved a letter on the 2nd Nov confirming I had been paying PPI for 8 years on a card I had taken out to pay for my wedding.
Came on this site and printed out the template letters and filled them in, I had applied for the card online in 2002 and was positive the box for PPI was automatically ticked for me, and sent them away on the 5th Nov recorded delivery, not really hoping for good news but it seemed harmless to try.
On the 9th I recieved a letter telling me they were looking into my complaint and then this morning I had another telling me it had been upheld and I would be receiving a cheque for £2,521.07 within 28 days time.
So happy, can't believe it only took 14 days to sort out and right before christmas. Thank you!!0 -
Two successes for me you guys.
1) Capital One - Sent letter two weeks ago, received standard 'let us investigate, we have up to 10 weeks' response. Two weeks later received letter of settlement. Here's where it gets good. I sent (from 1 years statements) that they'd charged me £64 in PPI payments. I said a straight refund of this, and whatever PPI there is from last year would be fine (another £64 or so I thought, at max). I had the card 5 years but only really spent on it in the last two. They sent back that my total PPI was £146, and gave me interest on top of it, leading to a total rebate of £224. Very happy bunny here, and very happy with the way they dealt with it. Professionals all the way.
2) Studio - Same sort of deal. I sent a late payment letter, charges have been deemed unfair, etc. They'd charged me twice in the last year, I asked for it back, they gave me back all the late payment fees (including the first 3 months I had the card where there were direct debit difficulties (I thought I had one set up...I didn't)) and interest on top of it. Another £300. Again, fully professional and very helpful, explained everything on the settlement letter, and I came out with more than I thought I would.
True success here is that (after taking £150 out to cover christmas) this pays off over 1/4 of my Capital One balance, and 1/2 of my Studio balance.
Very thankful to the people on here for the advice articles, template letters, etc. You guys are a godsend.0 -
Hi: Has anyone who susseccuful on Lloystsb BLRI, because I want to apply for PPI on business BLRI as some friends told me to go ahead and try, rather than use a agent to charge the highly comission, and I find this site very helpful so I download the form and fill in but at the complaint session I need more indicate to fill in the right answer for complaint at the right point, and also my business Loan is with security hold by the Bank, so anyone have the idea for me to fill in Form please. I am not quite sure I understand the difficulty. Just put the reasons you believe you were missold the PPI. They are required to look into it and may in fact uphold your complaint for a different reason than the one you give.0

Sent a letter to Halifax the middle of September regarding PPI on 2 loans I had in 2006 and 2007.
I had a phone call about 4 weeks later to go through why I thought they had been mis sold.
Had an offer letter today - Over £800 on one and over £1300 on the other.:T
I was expecting about £800 for both so am very very happy.:j0 -
Hi all,
I had 2 credit cards taken out in 1998 and 2001 respectively with BoS. I phoned their PPI helpline and they confirmed I had PPI on both cards. I downloaded the forms sent them away stating that I did not realise I was paying PPI. At the time of taking out these cards I was employed and entitled to company sick pay and had some savings that I could have met repayments on these cards had I been unfortunate to take ill or lose my job, My complaint therefore was that the PPI could not have been explained to me properly. Today I am in receipt of letters from the bank rejecting my claim, The card taken out in 1998 I apparently had applied for by post and they say I ticked the box agreeing to PPI. The second card I applied for in the bank and they tell me that the advisor would have explained all to me. Both cases they state "I knowingly consented to the addition of a PPI policy to my credit card"
Help, what do I do next? Is it worth taking this futher or do I give up? I realise there are hundreds of posts here along the same lines and I have trawled this thread all night, but if someone could give me a bit of advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.0 -

In the latter case, there is nothing in your post to indicate any wrong-doing by the Bank but, if you remain dissatisfied, you can refer your complaint to the Ombudsman.

Thanks for the prompt reply Moneyineptitude. They mentioned in the rejection letter that I would have been given a policy booklet that explains "all". Ok hands up, I probably never read it. But I shall take your advice on the insurance being mis bought due to no bank staff being involved. Thanks again, much appreciated.0

That's ok, I understood what you meant, makes sense even though I'd love to be able to appeal both claims. Thanks for the helpful advice0
