PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Posted claim 17th September and I estimated I had paid about £3000 in PPI based solely on latest PPI amount * 84 (7 years’ worth). Got a letter on 15th November saying “given the amount of time since you made your complaint we are going to make you an offer without admitting liability”. In total they have offered me £7.5k, all I have to do is send of the acceptance letter.:beer:IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Wondered if anybody else had the same problem as us and what to do about it. Filled form in and sent off to Lloyds without any account number as we no longer had them . Had three replies back on 3 seperate loans where they have located the account numbers but are saying that there are no ppi attached to them. I know for a fact the last loan had ppi but don't know how to go about proving it.0

Thought I would share my recent PPI reclaim success story.
I've been with Natwest Bank for about 25 years. Over that time I've had (or thought I had) a couple of loans totaling about £20k, the last one taken out and paid off more than six years ago.
When the whole PPI thing kicked off, I thought that I should do something about it but, being a bit of a de-clutterer, I didn't have a single scrap of paper with any details of any of the loans I've taken out. Eventually, following the advice here on the site, I rang Natwest's PPI customer helpline. They advised me to write to their loan archive people and request any details on file. I did this (a five line letter) and within a few days received a loan account number.
Armed with this, I phoned the customer helpline again, and over the course of a fifteen minute phone call answered three questions and held the line whilst the very helpful man at Natwest completed all the necessary forms.
A few days later, I received written confirmation of my complaint and an explanation of what would happen next. That was about three weeks ago.
Yesterday I received a letter from Natwest explaining that during their investigation they had found that my complaint was part of a chain of loan arrangements and they, as a "gesture of goodwill" they are refunding all relevant PPI payments and interest amounts.
So, from a position of having no details or paperwork, I made two phone calls and wrote one letter and I'm now going to be more than £8,000 better off!!
Having not worked in the first half of this year and facing a bit of a tax bill for 11-12, I'm now looking forward to a debt free Christmas and a much happier New Year.
Thanks for reading and I hope you have as much success as I have had.0 -

A sar will give you any and all information that relates to you. It should show details of all payments and transaction history, so yes, it should show PPI additions and payments.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

You're not claiming, you're complaining. You won't automatically get your complaint upheld, you have to wait and see if they decide it was missold in your particular circumstances.
If they decide not, you'll be waiting a lot longer than 8 weeks, you'll be waiting for up to a year with the FOSNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

This was a loan account i.e. a drawing facility up to 5000 which I set up in 2004. Still trying to pay it off today. On the advice of a Financial Adviser and having read the site extensively over a long period of time I phoned up and asked to make a claim. The guy on the phone asked a few questions about why I felt it was unfair then took my details and dispatched a form. The form arrived and asked a few pointed questions about how I would have covered the repayments, what other insurances I had in place and that sort of thing. I was about to return the form having mustered my arguments when I got a letter saying they didn't want to go into the details of the complaint but would give me back the payments plus 8% interest. This came to £7101. Since I still owe them some money they will be returning to me about £3800ish. Not bad just before Christmas. I need to check out some more of these now.0
