Sorry. What changes were made in 2005?

Thank you. How does that affect PPI claims?0 -
How does that affect PPI claims?
However, some other insurance providers were not regulated prior to 2005, so these will not accept PPI complaints from before this date.
None of which applies to your circumstances...0 -
Success at last, a cheque for £208 from DFS (as a 'goodwill' gesture). Not as big as some successes on here, but better than a poke in the eye! :T
That is hopeful, I have a claim with DFS but they keep trying to fob me off. Anyway I'll keep trying as I initially claims with First Direct but they said I had to claim through DFS. This is the only claim I have left outstanding so it would be nice to get a full house!0 -
Hi all,
I am going to put 2 claims in with the Halifax for unsecured loans.
I am curious if these are front loaded and if I stand a chance of success.
Loan 1
Cash Loan: £10,000
Total charge for credit for cash loan: £2,606
Amount I pay for cash loan: £12,606
Insurance loan £1,926.14
Total charge for credit for insurance loan: £502.06
Amount I pay for insurance loan: £2,428.20
60 payments at £250.57
Loan 2
Cash Loan: £20,000
Total charge for credit for cash loan: £6,239.92
Amount I pay for cash loan: £26,239.92
Insurance loan £4,996.11
Total charge for credit for insurance loan: £1,476.09
Amount I pay for insurance loan: £6,472.20
84 payments at £389.43
Loan 1 was taken out June 2001, loan 2 was taken out in May 2003.
Loan 2 payed of loan 1 and some credit cards (With PPI on them also).
Loan 2 was payed off in 2009 with some inheritance I got.
My complaint is I felt confused in the branch by the pushy sales person and was not sure about what the cover was for or if I had other options.
I was in employment which had longer sickness cover than standard and I had some savings.
Do I have a good chance with my complaints?
Thanks in advance.0 -
Hello everyone,
People may not be aware that some mortgage protection insurance covers not only PPI but also Critical Illness cover (CIC) and Life cover (LC).
When you reclaim the PPI from such an insurance plan they will only consider that part of the protection plan.
It is possible to claim on the other 2 parts if you can prove they were mis-sold also.
I claimed from the Halifax, and received in total £9,734.45.
I started my claim in July 2012. Using the forms downloaded from this site and the guide lines to demonstrate how it was mis-sold. Within 3 weeks I’d had a response saying that they had upheld my claim and that they would send me a cheque for £7,788.92. This consisted of the PPI part of my plan. :T
I then wrote to them to advise them that I was not aware that the parts of the policy were treated separately, and that I wished to claim for the other 2 parts.
8 weeks went by and I’d not heard from them. I phoned them and it ‘appeared’ they had not received my letter.
I wrote again including a copy of the original letter from August, but this time sent recorded delivery.
4 weeks later I received a response upholding this part of my claim. Another £1,945.53, thank you very much.
So in total I received £9,734.45 :j
The PPI claim was easy peasey. The life and critical illness cover was a bit more difficult. Persistence is the key word here. Send everything recorded so they can’t say they didn’t get it.
So how far can you claim back to? ......... I successfully claimed back as far as 1997 on 2 separate policies. I had thought they were the same policy transferred over from one mortgage to another (I’ve had 4 mortgages). I asked for the claim to go back to the inception of my original mortgage in 1988, but without the paper work I didn’t have the details. I did however have the last 3 mortgage account numbers. I guess they didn’t have the records back to 1988 either.
So I managed 15 years.
Not bad for a day’s work! :rotfl:

Hi, a success of sorts?! we received payment from our building society for a ppi claim. We went with a ppi claims management company mainly because we didnt think we were owed that much, and if we had to give the company a few quid well !
Anyway we got around £8k ! :T We contacted our building society and agreed the deal! To our surprise they told us that although we had agreed to a percentage fee with the claims people we could in fact cancel them and just pay them for the work it took to get the money back!
Confused and surprised we did ask the building society to repeat what we could do and again they said, write to them and cancel even tho this claim had been concluded and even that we signed their forms, as these were not lawful !!
OBVIOUSLY ! the claims management company say "no way" give us our cut! I have also looked at the M O Justice site where it does state that we can cancel even after the cooling off period and pay a "resonable fee"!
What should we doMANY THANKS for any help
