It has taken me such a long time to get this sorted as I did not give enough detail but through determination I have finally received an offer letter. I originally sent my complaint in May and had a rejection letter 30th June giving me 28 days to submit further information which I did with regards to a pre exisitng medical condition. They then sent me another rejection letter on 2nd October but had tried to contact me at work during September but I couldn't discuss it at work so asked them to contact me at home I never received another phone call so when I received the letter in October I emailed the ceo saying I did not think the new evidence was looked at fairly, 2 days later I received another phone call at work explained I couldn't take the phone call at work and arranged to be called back at home the next afternoon which they did. I was asked lots of questions about my pre exisitng medical condition and told I would hear within 7 days. 7 days came and went so after about 2 1/2 weeks I called the PPI helpline and was told my claim had been upheld and they were waiting for Halifax Card services. I received my offer letter today for £4400.82 which means I can pay off the remainder of the card and have a little left over for myself. I have been on a DMP with the CCCS since 2008 and the credit card was only the remaining debt on my plan so I am over the moon! :j
My advice to anyone would be to give as much information as you can first time round then you don't have to keep going backwards and forwards like me!
Good luck to everyone else and thanks to everyone who posts advice on here as I think this forum is great!:beer:0 -
I was just wondering if i could have some advice, i have lodged a ppi claim for a credit card, i have received a "goodwill offer" from my bank. I am un-sure weather to take the offer. I disappointed that they have not made a decision on my case just an offer, this leads me to believe that my complaint is correct and the bank just cant be bothered with me. I am happy to take it further but wonder weather there is any need as even if they uphold my complaint are they likely to offer a different amount as they seem to have worked all the figures out? Has anyone else refused a goodwill offer and what was the outcome?0

A goodwill offer is generally made when there is no evidence to support your case but the amount is typically small value and cheaper for the firm to pay it than fight it.
Goodwill offers can be withdrawn if you refer them to the FOS.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

As I believe goodwill offer are a banks way of saying ok you were right but we wont admit it haha , well that's what I have been told (sure someone will correct me soon) anyway as long as the amount seams about right except the offer and keep smiling
Also all my goodwill offers have been either for the right amount and a little bit more0 -

Thanks MSE

Each persons reasons for being mis sold is different, you cant just write to them with someone's else's reason because this is fraud0 -

I do think some people like to imagine there is some magic complaint reason which is upheld without question.
The problem is that the Banks don't divulge why a complaint is upheld, only why they decline.
In addition, the complaint reason which the customer uses may not be the one which actually convinces the Bank to uphold!
Do remember that every complaint is dealt with on it's own merits (or lack of them), so other successes are no real guide to how your own might perform.0
