A Subject Access Request (SAR) will not provide you with copies of your credit agreement I'm afraid. You will however receive everything that has been kept on file for you for the last six years(sometimes more). A SAR usually comes on spreadsheets containing details of account numbers and other financial "bric a brac".
A SAR costs £10 and they have forty days in which to comply.
It's very hard to see where you would go with this information, to be honest.
You have already had your "full and final" rejection.
Another 40 days waiting for your SAR and then how ever long the Bank takes to respond with the inevitable reiteration of their original response is all time you could have had your complaint referred to the Ombudsman.
If you wanted to do this research, you really should have done it BEFORE making your complaint.
As the other poster advised:
If a SAR only deals with the last 6 years, how come I was able to get 16 years worth of details?
Quidsy the bank will try and fob you off. They did the same to me. Tell them you know your rights and that a SAR is for ALL the information they have relating to you.
Moneyineptitude (aptly named) it is disingenuous of you to give advice you suspect or know to be wrong.0 -

Bit of a problem...
Not knowing much about PPI but being in debt repayment agreements I stupidly agreed to let Curlywig try to claim back some of my PPI. Two weeks later I cancelled that agreement as I realised how easy it was and that I could do it myself.
Success last week with a cheque from Egg for £280!!!
Failure this week as Curlywig have written denying ever receiving the letter I sent them.
What do I do?0 -
Hi
I followed all your advice and completed the forms, sent them off to Barclays and have just received payments totalling just over £5000!!!!! They even included previous loans in their sums. All in just over 6 weeks! The only problem I have is that they have calculated Payment Protection Insurance on a monthly payment basis and deducted it from my payment. I don't know if that's right or not, as my claim was that I shouldn't have been sold PPI as I was about to retire and had other means to pay off the loan.:T0 -
Capital One - Claim sent in August, letter back to say they are working through a backlog and will let me have their decision no later than 26th November- 8 weeks eh?
Update on this! Received the letter yesterday from Cap One saying I now have the right to pass this on to the FOS but they 'encourage me to be patient'.
Undecided on this one...does anyone out there have any experience with Capital One regarding PPI? Is there any point in going to the FOS at this point as I am not in receipt of a final repsonse? At the back of my mind I think this is time when the FOS could be dealing with this and Cap One maybe stalling!!! Any help?Debt at Sept 2006 £63,500:eek:
Debt at Sept 2012 £24,400
DFD Dec 2012! (if PPI claims come in) !!

All providers are suffering delays due to demand. The FOS itself has a 12-18 month delay.
CapOne are generally regarded to handle complaints fairly. Indeed, the FOS only overturned 11% of the complaint outcomes. That is very low.
So, in this case, the CapOne delay is likely to be a lot shorter than the FOS delay. They are not stalling. It is just volume of complaints.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi, I was wondering if someone could help to clear up a few this regarding ppi? Firstly, my Mum has had a phone call from a ppi company, which she has given her name/add to and they have sent her some forms to fill in, although I've told her not to yet; does this mean that she is tied to them now (as in will they take a cut if she proceeds on her own), or can she just not fill in the forms and continue with the claim by herself?
Secondly, I have several credit cards/store cards in the past (from around 1998-2005 ish) that I only have information on via an experian credit report in 2006, I have no idea if I have paid ppi on these, is there any chance I could make a claim against these?
Thank you in advance for any help anyone is able to give me0 -

Don't fill in the forms, otherwise she'll be paying a firm up to 50% of any redress she may get for doing exactly what she will be doing anyway, all they do is get you to find out all the information necessary, then put a stamp on it.samneedshelp wrote: »Secondly, I have several credit cards/store cards in the past (from around 1998-2005 ish) that I only have information on via an experian credit report in 2006, I have no idea if I have paid ppi on these, is there any chance I could make a claim against these?

Find out first if you were paying PPI, of you still have statements, check them, otherwise phone up and askNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

The claims company cannot charge until the documents have been issued and agreed. She should reply to them that their services are not required and keep a copy on file.
There is nothing wrong with having PPI. So, even if you find out you have PPI, that is not grounds for complaint. There has to have been a wrongdoing in the sales process. As you have mentioned no wrong doing, we cannot say if you have a chance or not.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
