I have been reading this thread with interest. My OH had 11 PPI agreements between the age of 18 and 21 for various loans, credit cards and a mortgage. Some of them we didn't even know PPI had been added to them until we later looked at the paperwork and in other cases they told us the PPI was either compulsory when it was not or made out it was far more important than it was and really put the pressure on OH with tales of doom and gloom as to what would happen to him and his children with no PPI should he be unable to work, etc. We have the full agreements for some of them, paperwork with account numbers and dates but no PPI details for others and a few we have no details at all except a rough date and what type of loan or card it was so we have written off requests for those. Even if we only get a small amount back from all of them we will be very happy. Wish us luck! Xx

There may be more letters to come regarding the other 2, give them a call and ask if they looked at these.

Thanks amersall, there letter says they will deal with the others if I can provide evidence of them........
  • Hi paid Lifstyle claims the sum of £702 for their premier service to get me back Thousands they reckoned I was owed in PPi and other charges. To cut a long story short, 2 years later and all I got was £278 and no likely hood of getting the rest refunded until I came across Section 75 in Credit Card T&C's! I gave it a go with my credit card company and low and behold, they refunded the difference up to the £702 within 2 weeks of me writing to them. Dont go with companies claiming they will get you loads, they wont! all you will get is the run around. Follow MSE tips to do it yourself but if your stuck, why not try Section 75 if you paid by credit card!

Congrats, nice one...[and it's section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act - not the credit card t&c's :) ]

  • Hi. Hope I'm posting n the right area? We sent out in total 4 letters to past creditors and MBNA responded immediately and within a week sent a letter saying we would be receiving a cheque within 28 days. The other lenders however, havent even acknowledged our requests for information. How long should we allow before chasing them up?

Nothing legal, just a FSA guideline which lenders have agreed to adhere to.

So if you send off paperwork initially and havent had any acknowledgement for over 6 weeks they still have time to get back with a decision or request for further time inside the 8 weeks guide line then ?
  • What were you reclaiming: Personal Loan PPI
    Who was the provider: Natwest
How much did you get back: £15,871.82

One letter to Natwest to find out if I had PPI on my loans, then one phone call to lodge the complaint. 6 weeks later the letter arrives offering £15,871.82.

I am absolutely over the moon & can not stop smiling!!

I encourage everyone to start the ball rolling with this, if it wasn't for MSE I would never have done it.

    Thank you so much!! :j:j:j:j:j
