PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I wonder if anyone can help with Natwest.
My other half has been trying to see if he had PPI on a credit card with Natwest that he had some 4 years ago. The account was settled and closed and as such they keep stalling in providing the information we are requesting. We have followed the templates and they keep sending template letters back and not reading the letters we send them! They have requested confirmaton of ID which has been sent, and they send a standard letter back staying that as the account is closed they are not required to send the info. We then follow up with the Subject Access Report letter and they ask for confirmation of ID, which we send again, and they come back again stating that as the account is closed ......
They are becoming increasingly frustrating. Some people have mentioned a freephone number to call to get put through to a PPI department - does anyone have this, or can anyone help us to get the response we require to find out if the credit card had PPI without further template letters being sent and us going round in circles again!!
Thanks.
The number that was on my claim acknowledgement was 0800 015 0319. I rang 4 times in total over my 8 weeks, and they were great. It was answered within a minute or so, and they were very helpful and friendly.....worth a try I suppose0 -

Thanks. Sorry where's the "sticky" to get the template? I have written to them with the cheque which they returned when requesting the ID!0 -
I have had a successful Mortgage PPI claim after a friend told me about the information and templates on this website. My mortgage was with the Halifax and I successfully had back all I paid in with 8% interest on top! This totals £657.70 as I only had my mortgage and insurance for a year. I had a response letter from the Halifax saying the matter would be dealt within 8 wks. I had a letter after 5 wks saying I was successful and they would pay me my money back so I had no need to contact the ombudsman.
I used the questionnaire from this website and went over the questions and answers carefully making copies for myself also. I also sent off my bank statements from when I started to pay the PPI to prove how long it was paid and I never missed a payment, even though I switched jobs half way through and took less pay. I felt I was pushed into this PPI as I was on my own with no partner to back me up with payments. I was never asked if I had savings or other means of paying the mortgage if I lost my job or became ill. I did have the means to pay from savings and this evidence was sent recorded delivery also. Thank you money saving expert:j0 -

Finally!!! A cheque from Egg. I sent the acceptance forms back on 10th August and the cheque finally arrived on 6th October. It's noow working itself through the bank account and should hopefully be cleared later today as it's with the same bank as we bank with.
It's taken an age and certainly longer than 10-15 working days but it's finally here.0 -
I got so very fed up with constant cold calls re PPI that I thought I might as well trawl through my past credit card statements and see if I had it. I had two policies, one with Capital One and one with Mint. I only had the accounts for a year each and so wasn't really expecting anything at all.
After sending the required documents (downloaded from MSE) eight week's ago, I received a letter this morning from RBS offering £432.45. For the cost of a stamp and about 30 minutes of my time, I would urge anyone that's not sure to go for it. £432.45 isn't by any stretch a big payout but it's better than a poke in the eye and will go towards my balance on another credit card. Every little counts! Just waiting to hear from Capital One now. Still not hopeful, but who knows......:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

You only get PPI back that you have paid to date, as the loan is still running and you want the Whole PPI paid to you then the PI you owe to term is still on the loan, they don't give you this back as you have not yet paid it.I have just received an offer from loans.co.uk the premium was added to loan as a single payment of £2,888 the loan is for 15yrs and the ppi ran out after the first three years much to our horror as my husband was made redundant. The monthly amount added to loan repayment is £45 and we have been told that will not change. My calculations make the amount owed to us £8100 plus 8% interest they have offered £6375 as their first and final offer. They calculated £2888 plus interest £2680.89 plus 8% £809.91.They also say that we must continue to pay any outstanding amount with respect to ppi to the term of the loan because we want moneys paid direct to us what do I do?. Reject offer and then do I have to re-claim or do I have to go straight to Ombudsman. Can anyone help me please as I will be £2500 out of pocket.
How long have you paid this loan for and when does it end?.
You should get the PPI and interest for the months to date that you have paid this and the whole PPI taken off the balance unless as in your case you requested it back to you.
With you requesting the whole PPI amount back to you they cannot reset the loan as they have given you the whole PPI back and the PPI you have paid to date.0 -
Grrr! Just finished a phone call to Nasty West asking for an update on my claim...to be advised they are rejecting my claim and defending their position:mad: The guy I spoke to said a letter is on it's way explaining and was that ok? err...no not really, but let's see what the letter says before I respond!!! I really am determined to get something back from this outfit after they were so quick to issue a CCJ against us when we experienced financial difficulty!! :mad:Debt at Sept 2006 £63,500:eek:
Debt at Sept 2012 £24,400

There may be more letters to come regarding the other 2, give them a call and ask if they looked at these.Had an offer of Just under £5k from HSBC :T my question is there's a chain of loans, I have no details of the 2 in the middle apart from the account numbers, I did point out that the loans were in a chain & that they should all be treated as a chain, but they've ignored the 2 in the middle, what can I do?0
