PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi all,
Although i have read and heard about PPI claims i have never bothered myself to go for it! Both wife and I have credit cards, loans and a mortgage and have done so for many years.
However, looking at the form kindly added to the MSE.com i don't have all the details for what we have had and we currently have ie account numbers, figures etc. Can i send off a blanket form to teh lenders we know we were with and let them do the digging?
I really could do with some help and advice on this!
Thanks all.
You can either simply give them a call and ask or send each lender a SAR request (there's a sticky) along with a cheque for £10 to cover their costs. They should then send you all information they still have on any accounts they hold or held for you. What you will receive will vary by institution dependant on how long they keep records for.0 -
i recently had a successful ppi reclaim from egg who granted me 3500, however they said one of my accounts was still open and they were tranfering 800 pounds to this account to close it. This is due to me recently coming out from a IVA agreement. This agreement came to an end a month before i sent in my ppi complaint and actually sent in a copy of my certificate of completion and mentioned all my accounts were settled. Subsequently i tried to contact egg via the phone which just loops around and gives an address, by email and nby sending three letters and still i have not had any response back from them, Please can anyone advise what to do next?0

Hi, weirdly I am in exactly the same boat.. I to a 10k loan out with egg in 05 and entered into an Iva in 2006 which I settled early in 2010. I found an old egg loan statement when filing my completion certificate two weeks ago that had ppi in it as a lump amount. So, I as of last week submitted a claim. As I understand, creditors in an iva agree a dividend in the pound as regards your debt and a full and final payment towards this debt is considered in the eyes of the court FINAL. After researching lts of posts on here and elsewhere I know egg have paid outgo people who entered into iva's. The only worry I have is that the hmrc case has meant that Ivas remain open until the ruling is made. People still receive cheques for the debt and applicants receive their completion certificates.
I am not hopeful of a payout as I only repaid 12 months of the loan and then entered into the iva. I also applied online and know, from reading lots and lots of threads that egg state if u applied online u knew about ppi. Which is debatable when calls were inclusive of ppi and you had to opt out instead of opting in!
How long did it take for a decision from egg from complaint to offer?
I would try this number to speak to egg... 0800 358 2101 and ring your iva company for advice.
Hope egg agree to refund me too?0 -
Hi
Please can you help So I wrote to my all my companies that I think owe me ppi well 3 and all 3 came back to say they didn't recognise my account? Or couldn't find my account details.
No about 6 years ago I mortgaged and credit card myself up to my eyebrows so I had to get a Iva for help. So I don't have any of my account details.
Where do I go now? Please advice

hi have you looked on your IVA paperwork to see if the account numbers are on there?? if not you could try and SAR the companies which costs £10 each company as they may have put your records in archives0 -
lets say u owed some1 £1000 and couldnt afford it so you offered them £500. then few yrs down the line you said hold on they owe £1500 even thou they said ok to the £500 in the first place u still do owe them £500 so they would knock it off the £1500 they are giving u back they are totaly within their rights to do soHi, weirdly I am in exactly the same boat.. I wonder if anyone can help with Natwest.
My other half has been trying to see if he had PPI on a credit card with Natwest that he had some 4 years ago. The account was settled and closed and as such they keep stalling in providing the information we are requesting. We have followed the templates and they keep sending template letters back and not reading the letters we send them! They have requested confirmaton of ID which has been sent, and they send a standard letter back staying that as the account is closed they are not required to send the info. We then follow up with the Subject Access Report letter and they ask for confirmation of ID, which we send again, and they come back again stating that as the account is closed ......
They are becoming increasingly frustrating. Some people have mentioned a freephone number to call to get put through to a PPI department - does anyone have this, or can anyone help us to get the response we require to find out if the credit card had PPI without further template letters being sent and us going round in circles again!!
Thanks.0 -
Have you sent a SAR and £10?
If you have [see the sticky for a template] and they haven't responded with the information, and have cashed your cheque, make a complaint to the ICO.
You can't ask for a Credit Agreement because the account is closed, and unless you send payment and make clear you are sending a Subject Access Request, then they will keep responding as above.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
